dunfermline v dundee

Recommended Posts

Having rewatched the game, I've come to the conclusion that both ourselves and Dunfermline should have had a further penalty each. Both McGhee and whoever was in the Dunfermline wall at Johnson'sfree kick have turned side on and opened their body up. The wall one in particular is as clear a one as you'll see. No idea how the linesman missed it.

Sticking by my original statement, Dunfermline go direct far too often. Especially considering when they did get the ball down, they played some really nice stuff.

Law XII says that only a tackle from behind which endangers the player is a foul

Fairly sure you've just made all of that up

Law 12 (excerpt)

Direct free kick

A direct free kick is awarded if a player commits any of the following offences against an opponent in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force: • charges

• jumps at

• kicks or attempts to kick

• pushes

• strikes or attempts to strike (including head-butt)

• tackles or challenges

• trips or attempts to trip If an offence involves contact it is penalised by a direct free kick or penalty kick

2 players on Johnson using excessive force by chraging, pushing and tackling.

It was a foul.

Totally agree but we are going to see some amount on penalties this season especially when free kicks are aimed at hands and arms (unless the Dundee player was genuinely trying a shot in which it was a pretty terrible freekick - almost noone hits a freekick directly at a wall most folk go under or over)

We went direct when we went to a back 5 and we looked poorer after that however once we get Turner and Thomson back we will be able to change like for like and keep some tempo in the game.

"The International Football Association Board, holding its 112th meeting in Paris, decided upon the following addition to Law XII :

A tackle from behind which endangers the safety of an opponent must be sanctioned as serious foul play" - FIFA.com

Ashcroft didn't trip or attempt to trip he put his foot between the attackers open legs and hooked the ball back, to do so with out any contact is good defending the player went down after the back had been recovered not when the initial contact was made. If contact if made after the ball is won is there any infringement to call on football is a contact sport and I don't think it was dangerous so it's a pretty harsh to award a penalty.

The game itself I thought we were brilliant. What a difference it makes to see a team creating chances and most importantly finishing them, Nisbet scored more at East end this season than anyone last season I believe? Pleasing, he'll be a massive player for us and it's imperative we keep him fit.

Love Nisbet’s attitude. We’ve had a few strikers in recent years who play like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. It all seems a total piece of piss to Nisbet. Such an assured lad. In his interview with BBC after the game he was more natural and relaxed than the two presenters.

So you've just confirmed that your original statement which was "Law XII says that only a tackle from behind which endangers the player is a foul ", is complete nonsense.

Thanks for clarifying.
