It’s only a nutmeg once reviewed by VAR and is confirmed as being a nutmeg by Willie Collum’s wee brother up in the TV studio. Play shall not resume until the ‘it’s a meg’ message has been delivered directly to the referee’s earpiece. Until such times, it’s merely an attempt to poke the ball between an opponents splayed legs.

Did that today

Did you regard it as a meg or just playing it through his legs?

I personally only regard it as a meg when I collect the ball at the other side. Unless you did a wee fancy through the keeper's legs, then it's absolutely a meg.

Can you nutmeg a keeper to score a goal, or is that just hitting it through the keeper's legs?

Its just hitting it through the keeper's legs.

Q. If you are the last person to touch the ball and it goes between a players legs is it a meg whether intentional or not?

A shot from half way at the fives, right down the middle, rattled both ankles and went in, a long distance meg, or does it need to be clean through?

Stop devaluing the Nutmeg !

Nutmeg - Exponents in football[edit]

Kicking the ball through an opponent's legs in order to get the ball past them and back to the original player is a dribbling skill that is commonly used among football players. Owing to its effectiveness and being visually impressive, it is very popular among players and can be frequently seen being attempted multiple times throughout a game, whether by a single player or many different players. Some of the most notable practitioners include Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi.[1][2]

Street football game[edit]

There is also a street football game, originating in the Netherlands, which is called panna (Sranan Tongo for gate). This game depends on usage of this technique.[3][4]

30 votes to 11 in favour of the correct 2nd option on here and 43 votes to 11, again in our favour, in the Championship.

The people have spoken and it's good to see the majority know their stuff.

You need to collect the ball yourself or find a man with the pass.

This.

Does ma nut in when someone puts the ball through your legs, laughs and claims the meg, but it gets him nowhere and his side loses possession

From next season, all nutmegs, whether completed or not, will result in the immediate award of a penalty to Rangers.

I've heard that it doesn't even have to be a game they are involved in.
