Wimbledon and the grass court season

Recommended Posts

He’s back........kind of. Andy Murray will return to competitive tennis for the first time since his hip operation when he plays in the men’s doubles at Queens the week beginning the 17th of June.

Wimbledon starts July 1st but the actual grass court season kicks off today with tournaments in Nottingham, Stuttgart and S’Hertogenbosch.

I have a bad feeling about this.  3-1 to Andy's first round opponent at Wimbledon.  (If he plays).

I don’t see him playing singles at Wimbledon this year. Doubles possibly but not singles

Hopefully Konta’s French Open form continues into her grass court campaign and she has a decent run at Wimbledon. She is the only Brit I can see making the 2nd week

Hopefully Andy plays just to get a deserving farewell.
Andy won't play singles.

He's clearly using doubles to see if it's worth his while making the effort with the resurfaced hip to come back as a singles player next year.

I see the Nottingham Open has been played on the indoor courts because of the inclement weather

Murray and Lopez draw the top seeds Cabal and Farah in the first round of the doubles at Queens.

Does anyone remember Laura Robson?  Tongue in cheek of course, but she fairly fell off the tennis map didn't she.  Has she retired?

I mind she had a wrist injury that hindered her for years

Disappointing news that Katie Boulter hasn't been deemed fit enough to be awarded a wild card for Wimbledon
