Folk watch men's football at lower division level and enjoy it. Ditto amateur and scoolboy. Hardly top-notch stuff.

I enjoy watching a game between two similarly  matched teams  (more or less),  no matter who is playing.

The money aspect is purely down to the capitalist system in which we live and will find its own level.

The idea of altering the rules slightly to cater for strength and stature sounds reasonable to me.

Mon Scotland, get beefed into these Argentinians.

Disagree about the money aspect though.  It's not driven by capitalism, but by policy. The SFA isn't spending 5% of its budget on the women's game in the expectation of a financial return.

Crossbars and goalkeepers were introduced around 1870 at a time when the average male height was more like that of the average modern woman

If anybody is currently playing with the wrong size of goals it’s the gentlemen rather than the ladies

Indeed. Plenty of apparently sensible men have suggested increasing the goal sizes to mitigate against modern goalkeeper heights.  Well women's fitba is giving us a taster of what that would be like...

Why do women have a lower net in volleyball?

Why do women tee off from a shorter distance in golf?

Why do the WNBA use a smaller ball than the NBA?

Why is it only football that apparently doesn't need modified to suit a smaller physical body?

That's a load of rubbish. Jordan Pickford and Shay Given are just over six feet tall.

The Chelsea ladies boss thinks the goals could be made smaller

The point was that broadly speaking modern female athletes aren’t physically smaller than their historical male counterparts who played on the same size pitches and with the same size goals. If Herbert Chapman’s Arsenal could play with a 5 foot nine keeper then so can Hearts ladies

As for other sports. It’s not only football

Women’s rugby union is played on the same pitch with the same ball. Women’s Cricket is also identical as is Field Hockey. Badminton uses the same net height and Tennis only really varies in the majors where men play 5 sets. I’m pretty sure Baseball remains the same and Table Tennis is the last on the list of “10 most popular sports in the world ” that came up first in my list of google results

So much for equality! Some women players and coaches want be shorter pitches too. But they want the same money as the men.

It's like the women tennis players getting the same prize money as the men at Wimbledon. In singles, they play best of three sets compared to best of five for them. Same money but shorter matches. That's real discrimination - against men!

And then there's the standards and entertainment value to consider too.

Christ almighty. Funny as it is, they shouldn’t be fucking publishing that.
I'm not sure there's anything that shouldn't be published in that letter.

I don't necessarily agree with the points made but there's nothing too dodgy in there.

All these points are perfectly debatable.

Pitches like Brechin and Cowdenbeath are regulation size but an awful lot shorter than Class A stadia pitchs do they want the pitches even smaller than the current minimum if so that would be like a 7's pitch. Men currently dont get less money for playing on Brechins pitch as they would at Hampden vs Queens Park.

Regardless of the size of pitch women and men should be treated the same by the FA, the male players will likely have more lucrative sponsorship deals themselves and possibly even a certain caps clause in their club contract - I dont think its the FA's place to bump up womens slaiers in this way thats up to them and thier agents.
