Would you say that professional women’s football being banned in England from 1921 to 1970 is chauvinist?

That's a bit strong: professional women's football was never banned. The FA asked member clubs not to allow women's teams (all amateur) to use their grounds (and there are all sorts of suggested reasons for this, none of them justifiable nowadays).  The women's game formed its own association (which collapsed) and continued playing at amateur level outside the FA until the 1970s.

I've considered all the evidence around her claims of unfairness, viewed all the pictures online and come to the conclusion that I would quite happily let her sit on my face.

Saw her at Rennes airport yesterday.  Was just exiting flight mode and couldn't get online quickly enough to show her this thread unfortunately.

She'd have some amount of egg on her face after reading this.

The FA also banned FA registered referees from officiating women's matches. It was clearly a ban on women's football.

Hardly an effective ban if women continued playing and even formed their own association to promote it.

The FA absolutely did not want to support women's football. That's undeniable. But they did not ban it and had no power to do do.

This point really isn't the point to be arguing about...

Especially in the context of the Global game.

Hope Solo lives in a country where women’s football is a relatively big deal and the men’s game is relatively small so her assertion may, in part, be due to a similar lack of perspective
