Contact isn't necessarily a foul though.

He basically said his momentum took him into the striker. He didnt need to dive down

It was terrible goalkeeping to commit and give Abraham the chance to dive. But it was also a dive, Adrian may have grazed the side of Abraham's knee but never in a million years was it a foul.

He clattered his standing foot, it's a clear penalty.

It's harder under the new rules - the new rules are more generous to the keeper.

Couple of things here.

1) Whilst the rule is more ‘generous’ the application of it isn’t. Refs have been given instruction to enforce it ridiculously strictly, something that never occurred previously.

You were never going to be punished if you only had 1 foot on the line even though it was a technical breach, and quite often 2/3 steps in front of the line was accepted.

Now you get punished for 1 step over the line milliseconds too early.

2) was the previous law not ‘behind the line’ which is no longer allowed? Even if that was as strictly enforced it at least allowed forward momentum of keepers before the ball is struck.

As far as I've seen, in general refs haven't particularly been given any extra instruction to enforce it - the main difference was the (wrong IMO) clarification that VAR could be used for such decisions.

Keepers are still allowed to be behind the line as long as they have one foot on the line, so they do still have some opportunity to have forward momentum - by moving from having their front foot on the line to their back foot on the line.

The problem is that at the World Cup every single penalty just about was referred to VAR to see if the keeper was off their line. If they’ve now decided to stop doing that and be more lenient about it then fine but it’s the inconsistency that annoys people.

"Other Euro" and League Cup.  :1eye

You'd be as well including the Milk Cup and Premier League Asia Trophy.

6 big ones in there but they all count fud :)

The Milk Cup was of course the title of the League Cup for a period of time.

No they don't m8. The Super Cup is not a trophy. If you want to count that, you need to count the Community Shield, which I notice is conveniently left out of the table as it would put Man Utd miles in front.

The Charity Shield 😂

This would appear to be more accurate.

Did they not announce during the WWC that the foot on the line rule wasn't going to be as stringently enforced in the shoot-outs? So not sure what everyone's bleating about for that Abraham penalty in the shoot-out.

Also anyone saying it wasn't a foul on Abraham must be either a raging incel, or on at the wind-up.
I think they said the 'keepers won't be booked for it in shoot-outs but I may be mistaken.
