Where does anything in the BBC article today contradict that.?  Don't recall the article saying anything about reconstruction.

I think his point is that sporting integrity is in question when a team has been declared champions after 3 games when some teams haven't even played a single game.

Think the last para is the relevant one.

SPFL 1 &2 have went from their normal 36 games  to 27 games at the start of the season, down to 22 games with their decision to restart in March  , allowing for league to be decided on PPG if games aren't played.

No-one is talking about SPFL 1 & 2 as you very well know.

Just why didn't the SFA or SPFL say 'if 50% of games are played (at any level) then PPG WILL be used if necessary,to announce promotions and relegations. Make the decision and make it simple. Being based down south,do fans think Brechin would win any play offs at the moment ? Maybe playing games will have an advantage over HL/LL clubs.

This is part of the problem.  I don't think they have the power to do that and the clubs all decided to kick the can down the road prior to the season kicking off rather than sorting this out.  That's left us with this shit show.

Its a Brechin City thread, so it is relevant how the SPFL have moved the goalposts on a few occasions for SPFL 1 and 2

Of course they've had to move the goalposts to cope with the changing state of the pandemic.  I don't think that anyone can say (and I haven't read any Brechin fans claim) that Brechin aren't where they are on merit at the end of this season.  There's no sporting integrity issue with the deciding of club 42 whoever it happens to be.  Over 80% of the scheduled SPFL 1 & 2 season will have been played.  As I said, I believe Findlay is talking about the sporting integrity of deciding placings at Tier 5.  If I repeat this often enough it may sink in for you.

Neither the SFA nor the SPFL have the power to do so and the clubs specifically voted against granting then that power for this season, that's why.

For any single club to throw their hands in the air and blame 'the authorities' for their entirely self-inflicted mess is outrageous.

This Donald Findlay guy is a shitebag. Another one that has for far too long enjoyed the safety of a relegation-less league. He has no right to call sporting integrity into question if he’s claiming unfairness here.

Donald Findlay was the chairman of Cowdenbeath when they won back-to-back League 2 play-offs against East Kilbride and Cove Rangers. His club "took their medicine", as it were, but won on both occasions.

There’s been some wild takes about this season but this post is up there with the most ill informed, knee jerk and outright stupid.

What on earth are you talking about? As Francesc says, Cowden  have twice in recent seasons faced dropping out of the SPFL on two occasions   involving two match playoffs against East Kilbride (which finished in a penalty shoot out) and against Cove ( who threw their toys out of the pram when they finished up as losers with eight men). The Blue Brazil have also won other playoffs over the recent seasons - Hamilton 1  Cowdenbeath 3  and  Dunfermline 0  Cowdenbeath 3  spring to mind. Donald Findlay was right last year when he indicated that Hearts Covid relegation was indeed unfortunate and unfair but not lllegal.  The Brechin  approach may be crass but should be properly examined. The HL authorities in particular need to justify their decision.

Oh and Donald was born in Cowdenbeath

The HL do not need to justify anything, they made a decision which was within the scope of their rules, which was subsequently ok’d by the SFA legal advisor.

That first sentence explains the clusterfuck which has arisen with nobody seemingly  prepared to make any final decision on how the season will finish for league 2 .

What single club  are you referring to? There have been many complaints against the system over the last two seasons by many clubs.

Anne Budge, Craig Levene, every Hearts supporter and most of the Scottish sporting press:yucky thought so

The first 3 groups all had a vested interest.  Didn’t the Scottish sporting press all think Rangers shouldn’t have been relegated or armageddon would ensue?  A bastion of sense and integrity they are.
