The Brechin City Thread

I have absolutely no sympathy for Brechin City FC. While the SPFL saw fit to demote Hearts, Partick & Stranraer lwith a quarter of the season still to play the same body refused to offer up Brechin for the Pyramid Play-off because "the season had not been completed" !

A total contradiction!  But of course the Brechin Chairman was a member of the SPFL Board at the time! Smacks of a conflict of interest and SPFL cronies gathering round to save Brechin. Well this season your SPFL cronies couldn't help you and you got what you deserved. I have sympathy for fans and players but not for the institution known as Brechin City FC.  Enjoy the HL and may your stay be a long one!

Away and spout yer nonsense somewhere else Tom English you uninformed tosser.

Black swan mate. There's always one! Clearly doesn't know the "game in this area" like myself, being as I currently am holed up / locked down in a Southeast Asian backwater. As they say in Montrose: "Take your washing in, the Brechiners are coming". So not at all surprised at Hedgecutter's off the wall claim.

I can only assume that you know the real meaning of that saying ? 😉

To add fuel to the fire, this is the strip we've been playing in all season, sponsored by the distillery next door to Glebe Park.

Eta: that said, the water for Glencadam gets piped down from a loch just beyond the Angus glens (30 miles away), so it's 'highland' water to produce a highland style.  More about taste style rather than geography of course, but fun fact for the day if nothing else.

Did they drink it before games?

How could they promote anyone, all the tier 6 leagues went nil and void???

Have a wee vote on it. That's basically what happened in the LL and the Highland League where Brora played the sum total of three games.

Yes, I'm sure there will be big interest for next season's derbies. I would also expect the fixtures to avoid being at home at the same time. Still, there will be some crowd impact on he gate, even a few dozen would make a finacial difference over a season.

I get the point you are making but the increased gates from  the 2 home derby fixtures ( assuming  there are no restrictions ) should more than make up for  a small dip in numbers at other games if that did happen.  There’s bound to be a lot of interest in the games due to the novelty value and I’d imagine Kelty will be challenging for promotion.

Aye it’s gone a bit sideways on this thread [emoji23]. On topic obviously it’s shite going down but any away days you lads are looking forward to? Got to be a few good day outs in the Highland League, missed our trip to Wick a few years back.

Me personally?  Rothes, Keith (Mid St pub crawl), Nairn*, Fort William & Strathspey.

*this has history with me as my brother and I decided to get a train from Aberdeen to Nairn and had stocked up on a pricey selection of worldwide beers having booked table seats, one to be had before each station (half a bottle each to prevent being smashed by Keith).  Got to the gates to have them all confiscated as Aberdeen were playing at Caley that day and they'd made it a dry train.    I will be getting my beer world tour.

Aye, apologies.
meant to post earlier that I’m sorry to see Brechin go down. We’ve dodged the bullet ourselves   twice but most lower league teams could well face the same fate in future. I fully support the pyramid system though and if it were to happen to us I’d hope we would take it with the great  grace most Brechin supporters have shown.

Fort William will be a cracker for anyone who’s got the time for that one and should be a win for you at least. Harsh to lose your booze like that hopefully you can make up for it next time.
