when brechin go down will they be trying to pull the 'we have to play in the lowland' card again or are they actually going to take their medicine this time ? genuine question

With the Midland League coming in at tier 6 underneath the Highland League that ship has well and truly sailed now. Brechin City in the LL while a team like Lochee United, Broughty Athletic or Brechin Vics could go up to the HL isn't going to happen.

Midland league really is a crap name for a League, maybe should call it the ALBA league.

It's in line with the amateur league for the same area tbf.

No relegation ever.  Why should clubs go into lower leagues just because they have been shit at football.  Clubs should be able to play as badly as they want without consequences.

...that has been the culture of the lowest national division until relatively recently. What I have found hard to understand is the whole notion that not being in the bottom division of the SPFL any more is some kind of catastrophic event that calls for some D-list celebrity to suddenly be trundled out to explain how much Club 42 means to them and how devastated he will be if they lose. The club will still be there in Lowland or Highland League as well you plank and if you are not going to games either way what difference does that make to you? Guess you would need to have never sampled what the alternative would be to any significant extent to see things that way, but I'm sure Shire fans that actually go to games have enjoyed watching their team win regularly for a change and challenge for trophies and don't see being in the LL as the end of the world.

I know I'm in a minority but still think the SPFL should extend to include more clubs and not consign anybody to relegation. Yes, there are some progressive clubs who deserve a crack at the SPFL and Yes., Brechin have had hard time since being in the Championship but Yes, I also think the Scottish League needs a re-think from top to bottom because only 12 teams in the top flight means not enough Scottish players are getting pitch time at the top level and that in my opinion is a significant reason which has adversely affected Scotland at the national and European club level. That said, I guess I'll stay in the minority.

Given that Scotland qualified for every World Cup from 1978 to 1990 and Aberdeen and Dundee United both reached European finals when there were only ten teams in the top division history would not seem to support your theory

No real surprise to see incorporation happening regardless of where were playing next season.

We really need a change of direction and it’s important that there will be pretty much a new board.  We’ve all been critical of the committee in the last few years and while they have given amazing service to the club over the years it was time for a change.

Its almost certainly we are going to get relegated but it is not a life sentence.  There’s no reason why the club can’t be successful again.

There has been a deterioration in the last 20 years since 1990. Not saying I'm right but there is a reason why we've been left behind and it would be good to know why? Still think it's got something to do with it though and the lack of strikers by some teams playing only one up top is probably to blame as well.

Nowt to do with the Brechin situation and I still wish them well.

Correct, nothing at all to do with the number of teams in the league. We haven't had and don't have good enough players.

The new people mentioned to be co opted on doesn’t give me much hope for the future.
Yeah but you also strike us all as the type of person who wakes up hoping you have a flat tyre so you have something to complain about so nobody actually cares.

But in 1982 for example only 9 of the 22 played in Scotland.  What did for Scotland was Bosman.  Suddenly English clubs could find it a lot easier to buy clubs from the Continent rather than Scotland.

In 1986 it was 13 Scots against 9 non-Scots - and Dundee Utd and Aberdeen provided 9 of the squad.  The falling-off of those two has had an impact as well.

CAN KELTY BE PROMOTED WITHOUT THE USE OF A PENALTY KICK IN THE LAST 5 MINUTES OF 2nd LEG ? AUSTIN. EASTON & RODGERS ARE ALL EXPERTS IN FALLING OVER IN THE BOX ! BOTH EDINBURGH CITY PLAY OFF  GOALS AGAINST THE SHIRE CAME FROM THE PENALTY SPOT !😛

Maybe your defenders shouldn't have been clumsy cluggers then.

And unlike you Shire hoors we wouldn't have voted for the OF Colts if we'd still been in the Lowland League
