Signing confirmed

The club can confirm that the latest addition to the squad is 20 year old striker Ross Crawford who joins the club from Sauchie where he ended the season as the junior sides top scorer.

Ross agreed terms with the club prior to the friendly against Dundee on Saturday and featured as a trialist in the first half against the Dark Blues. The big striker will look to be a real handful for defences with his aerial presence this coming campaign.

The former Falkirk youth worked under former City striker Iain Diack at Sauchie and his his goals helped the club secure promotion to the East of Scotland Premier Division last season.

Manager Barry Smith, who has had his eye on Crawford for some time, commented, "We have been monitoring Ross since January and we have been impressed with him in pre-season."

According to EOS website he isn't even in the top 24 league scorers for last season or the top 20 scorers in all competitions.
"junior sides top scorer" how thick are these guys

Sauchie arent a Junior club though is the point Gogsy is making, they are a Senior club playing in exactly the same pyramid as Brechin. Indeed come May 2020 and both teams could fnd themeselves at Level 5 in the pyramid.

The club may have Junior in the official name but so does Boca and no one would think they were a Junior club.

Probably because Boca Juniors are in the Argentinian top flight.

What a bizarre comment.

Referred to as ‘Sauchie Juniors’ on their official website, facebook and twitter so most folk would be none the wiser tbh...

Some clubs are named as such, Tranent Juniors another. It’s still lazy as f**k to suggest they are a junior side regardless.

Who gives a feck " Junior or not "  , " Cough cough  " or not .  Couldnt give a toss . What will be will be . One thing is for sure he'll either  storm it and  be the answer . Or be like some of the other forwards we've had in recent years ( cough cough ) .  Best of luck to him . How many signed players do we have now ?

Anyway its a step closer to having a full team 😎

This. Alright we need some numbers in still, but let’s get behind Barry for now at least? Looking forward to seeing a few of these guys in action on Friday night against Utd. Crawford didn’t get a lot of the ball against Dundee, unsurprisingly but he looked like he could be a handful and I was impressed by Luke Watt. Plus Paddy, Dougie and McCord should be more than capable at L2 level.

[edit - McManus obvs knows his way to goal as well, assuming his legs can still get him there]

Hope to see one or two more promising new faces tomorrow  as well.

Am also in the market to be referred for my first season ticket. If any existing STH wants to befriend me (!) and claim their £20, drop me a DM

Don’t think we are going to learn too much from the friendlies. All about getting the fitness up and making a few quid off sizeable away supports. Hopefully like the Dundee game we can keep it respectable.

We’ll have a real gauge of where we are at against the likes of Forfar and Montrose in the Betfred and even then it’ll take these players a while to gel with still another 6/7 to come in surely.
