Seems a bit bizarre. Smith was extremely lucky to get a job after the shambles at Raith, but you should have punted him when it was confirmed you were relegated rather than waiting 3 games into a new season when it looks like he's not been backed financially. Instead he's now assembled a squad that a new guy will have to run with after Smith clearly wasn't backed due to having to play himself and name himself on the bench.

Based on your lack of options, you'd be better served with a player manager now IMO. You'll probably try and go for someone like Gary Naysmith - or you might even give Jim McIntyre his last chance like you did with Smith. Canning would be a decent shout

Barry is a good, honest guy and did well at Dundee and East Fife, but possibly made the wrong choice to take over at teams on the decline. Sadly football is a cruel game and the "results driven business" term is more than a cliche when it comes to clubs struggling to meet the often unrealistic aspirations of supporters with the resources available...

Just a reminder that the Shire play at Falkirk Stadium and not Ochilview for next season.

And a wee reminder to yourself chum ....If we are relegated from League 2 we would drop into the Highland League .  " THE SHIRE " are in the Lowland League . Sorted that for you now off you pop back to the bedsit surrounded by all the old posters on your 4 walls out of "SHOOT " magazine . Thanks for taking part though .  It was truly a delight for us  that you chose to share your vast  football knowledge with the GANG .

I said this the last time as well. I love the guy but there is no way Charlie King should be considered.

And Stevie Campbell should be gone as well. He has been part of the last two management teams who have been failures.

^^^^^^ agree Steve Campbell should go  NOW .  Love King but wouldnt want him near it if it went tits up . Need experienced head in charge .  Caretaker wise Shagger , Hill and / or McCord  could hold the fort until we take a breath and find the right man

Just a prediction but Sean Dillon comes to mind as player manager.
No chance that will happen. Its a pity Naysmith took a job as Loans Manager for Hearts as he would be ideal and knows the lower league's well.

Naysmith who almost managed to relegate a full time team from the Championship despite having a 40 goal striker! And that's the issue with people wanting an experienced manager. If you're a decent experienced manager you almost certainly don't want the Brechin job. Part time clubs IMO are invariably better going for somebody who they see as having potential, rather than managers who have failed previously. People like Barry Smith. There are exceptions of course, but at our level 'experienced' managers can tend to be shite.

Well lest some thing has been done before it's too late. Bit who do we get in ? Give it to stevie full time ? Or maybe shagger ? I know I always say this but Charlie king ? ?

Think we are needing someone with experience and not a rookie to get us out the mess we are currently in, but as has been said, there isn't much going about. This appointment absolutely has to be the right one

Smith was backed to be actually! Slow international clearances, a couple injured and one carrying over a ban led to him having to play a couple.

Did a good job at East Fife and won the league aswell.Never had the best of times at QOS,they have struggled with managers last 5 plus years.

The reality is, every experienced manager that’s appointed at this level has some kind of failure on their CV and has been sacked from somewhere. You only have to look at the current part time clubs Paul Hartley (Falkirk), Mark Roberts (Ayr United), Gary Bollan (Forfar), Jim Weir (Sacked a few times), Ian Murray (St Mirren), Jim Duffy (sacked more than Jim Weir), Jim McInally (Morton) and Danny Lennon (Alloa)

When we found ourselves in a similar position a few years back we appointed Dick who was seen as a safe pair of hands to sort out the mess out and looked at us now, I think Brechin should do something similar but not sure who is available and who would take it. Good luck anyway, hope you get the right guy.
