Thought we didint play that badly today there were definitely a couple of positives to take from the game.It looked like we were massively lacking up .Scott reekie looks like a good find thought he played pretty well the club need to get the fingers out there arse this week and get the lack of players situatuation sorted it's a joke that we had to start Barry Smith today.

According to the teamsheet you had Olly Hamilton, Fionn McLeod Kay and Paddy O'Neill on the bench. Unless it was a mistake that's 2 outfield subs and a goalie.
The goalie was number 12 which meant he could play in or out of goal. Had he been 21 he can only play in goal. Other two injured.

Was all for trialists being allowed to play in this cup until today

Hopefully see more managers take to the pitch

I think Barry was trying to make a point about  the amateurish rules that the SPFL  impose regarding smaller clubs  not being allowed to play trialists .  Get it right up you Cockwomble and all the bigger clubs who believe in self preservation.

Well played today Barry BTW.  You had Dale Hilson on his arse a few times . :lol:

What is happening at Brechin? Is there a financial issue that’s led to the lack of signings?

We have 17 signed . 6 were unavailable today.

When you are starting from scratch it takes time to assemble a full squad.   We are getting there though.

Being the lower league club we had no expectations about progressing in this cup and are basically treating these games as pre season warm ups.

All the other part timers including HL and LL sides seem to have got sides no problem apart from Brechin and Dumbarton. Cup has always been no trialists so everyone knows the score.

If Watt and McLaughlin were available today it wouldn’t really have been an issue. Absolutely ridiculous that international clearance isn’t through yet. They both signed what must have been over a month ago.

Have these guys come from England? We had 2 sign for us that have had to be played as trialists for pre-season. Seems they might be dragging their heels over the summer. Wonder if there’s any system to complain about other FA’s?

How many of those clubs started from scratch and replaced their entire squad though ?

Couldn't tell you but every part time side always loses players for whatever reason so we're all in the same boat regarding the rules. No ones made you start from scratch although it is probably a good thing after 2 relegations.

It’s not a case of failing to have a squad signed up, we’ve 17 signed players!

Two of those in McLaughlin and Watt are STILL awaiting international clearance from Australia and Croatia despite signing over a month ago. This is outwith the clubs hands.

Add in a suspension, 2 injuries and a player on holiday and you have the predicament we had today.

Just saying that is our predicament.  We had no illusions or expectations about today.  For us it was about another pre season run out for the 3 quarters of our squad who were available out of the 17 signed.  Those players surpassed all our expectations and encouraging signs are there .

Regarding the trialist issue  , most of the lower league clubs , including Cowdenbeath disagree with the stupid ruling which basically favours the bigger clubs .  They have alledgedly tried on numerous occassions to overturn the ruling but have failed each time.
