No 1 could be interesting- for example player goes off the pitch at nearest point and subsequently gets hit in the pus by a pie  thrown from the crowd for being a big cheating b*****d. this was probably why they were directed to walk off at the half way line where most player tunnels would have been in the first place.

and if a player goes down in the box and there's no opposition player around is it still a penalty to Lithgae?!

Like it, but you should be asking it on the EOS forum.

No.5

If a player about to be sent off is allowed to continue until the next convenient break, he could well ne involved in a game changing incident before being formally sent off.

Refs will need to make very quick decisions and maybe stop a quick free kick.

The actual wording makes it clear that the only exception is for a clear goal-scoring opportunity:

"Once the referee has decided to caution or send off a player, play must not be restarted until the sanction is administered, unless the non-offending team takes a quick free kick, has a clear goal-scoring opportunity and the referee has not started the disciplinary sanction procedure. The sanction is administered at the next stoppage; if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the player is cautioned."

I know but when you have an 18 yard box and players being 10 yards away it just seems a bit daft that they don't change them to round metres as well.

The SFA Laws of the Game handbook gives all pitch dimensions in metres and also in yards in (--). Admittedly an old copy 2007 but no reason why it would have changed since everyone always refers to eighteen yard box, etc. Interestingly no limits + or - put on thr figure which is usual on any drawing specifying a dimension. Never seen a ref checking any of them although I have seen goals, corner flags and even penalty boxes which clearly did not meet the specified sizes.

Some of these rule changes are just going to have uninformed fans shouting abuse at refs, some still don't understand the ofside rule changes which came in many tears ago.

Rule 94 (Amended)...An appropriately coloured shell suit and an Alsatian dug (for leg biting purposes) will be provided trackside at fifteen metre intervals at compliant stadia. To be introduced at tier 5 and above. At tier 6 and lower levels a Staffordshire bull terrier (or similar crossbreed) will be acceptable.

This was printed in Private Eye  so it must be true.

It's not worth crying over.

Yip. You still hear fans screaming at the ref when a free kick for offside is taken in the defending team's half ie 'How can he be offside when he was in his own half'

I've always thought if a player steps into the box to play the ball it should be an indirect free kick instead of a retaken goal kick. Only infringement that isn't punishable. As you say the defender can play the ball under pressure knowing they'll get another shot at it. I would prefer this to be the law change. I take it the opposing player still has to be outside the box.

I agree with that, but at least they are trying to do something to stop the defender deliberately stopping play, because he is under pressure.

And TV commentators. Andy w****r was incredulous a while back when that happened, he could not comprehend how you could be penalised for offside with a free kick in your own half. They were inundated with tweets reminding him that the free kick was now given at the point where you became active, not where you were initially offside.
