Ginaro
From: https://thefitbanomad.wordpress.com/2019/09/15/welcomed-to-whitestone-park/ Then as the SFA official assured us protocol was to go straight to penalties Wanderers got a winner causing scenes of unbridled joy for those in the away end and dejection for everyone else. Just as well there was a winner in 90 minutes...

Just as well there was a winner in 90 minutes... Beggars belief if correct. Same happened year LL started when a referee was adamant he was taking an Alex Jack Cup tie between Gretna and Stirling Uni straight to penalties. It had to be replayed and sparked "Suspensiongate", IIRC. EDIT: Aye, both had a man sent-off and these were applied to the recast tie - but a loophole (thereafter closed) meant Stirling Uni's man served his against their EOS team while playing in LL the same afternoon, with the result that the Stirling Uni man played in the recast tie while the Gretna man couldn't... and inevitably of course Stirling Uni won sparking understandable unhappiness. HibeeJibee
Bump. Last 32 action in the South Challenge Cup tomorrow afternoon... and hopefully some good crowds in store given no other senior football on in the central belt - except Airdrie v Elgin, Raith v Glenavon, Sauchie v Whitehill and some EOSL First Division contests. Here would be my predictions but many of the ties are hard to call. Penicuik entered a mini-slump since they thrashed Cumbernauld in the Scottish Cup but are still a very competent side. CSS are capable of beating anyone on their day. It's extraordinarily hard to guess at the Cumbernauld-Jeanfield and Spartans-Stirling Uni matches, so home advantage may prove to be the difference. Nithsdale and Bonnyton are very close in the table so it could be a similar story there. Dunbar, Musselburgh plus Dunipace all have the capability to spring a surprise. Sadly the Mighty Berwick Rangers are not involved, can't remember why... Penicuik Athletic v Hill of Beath Hawthorn Civil Service Strollers v Kelty Hearts Blackburn United v East Stirlingshire Camelon v Heriot-Watt University Upper Annandale v Tranent Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic v Threave Rovers BSC Glasgow v Gala Fairydean Rovers Nithsdale Wanderers v Bonnyton Thistle Easthouses Lily v East Kilbride Cumbernauld Colts v Jeanfield Swifts Heston Rovers v Linlithgow Rose Spartans v University of Stirling Caledonian Braves v Musselburgh Athletic Craigroyston v Preston Athletic Dunbar United v Broxburn Athletic Dunipace v Glenrothes

Couldn’t argue with any of them, think Penicuik, Jeanfield and Dunipace are the only ones who could change that... although Musselburgh will probably win now that I’ve backed Caledonian

Anyway most of the likely suspects through and no glaring shocks. Last 16 is on Saturday 9th November after which the competitions takes a rest until March. So here are the sides in that eighth-final draw: Lowland League (8) Bonnyrigg, BSCG, Caledonian Braves, Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, East Stirlingshire, Kelty, Stirling Uni East of Scotland League Premier Division (5) Broxburn, Camelon, Hill of Beath, Linlithgow, Tranent East of Scotland League First Division (2) Dunipace, Preston South of Scotland League (1) Bonnyton
parsforlife
Kelty just aren't very good at cups tbh, poor record since turning senior. Fair point. They weren’t overly good at cups in the juniors either in their later years at that level

As I say, genuine question.Dunipace have been indifferent away from home, but no defeats in 6 at Westfield now.Indeed had only lost 1 goal at home in 5 games before today and they scored it themselves (own goal last week in the draw v LTHV). Pub quiz trivia: now 2 goals lost in 6 games at home and both own goals as today's was as well. [emoji85] No opposing player has scored in 6 games at Westfield yet.

gaz5
Camelon vs pace final?Haha, as much as that would be a great spectacle Alan, we'll not get that carried away just yet. Still lots of very good teams left in the last 16, most from above us, that's a huge ask.TBH the cups are a bonus for us, most important thing is starting to convert or chances in the league!

Please excuse my ignorance and long may it continue
Guest
I'm happy if people keep writing Dunipace off each week. Means we can trundle along under the radar. Now move along, nothing to see here.
