Pleasant surprise at Tannadice this afternoon. Deserved by all accounts.

Hope it's not a flash in the pan.

Apparently deserved our win but we have beaten Premier teams in this  cup before. Sounds as if considering we have so many new faces that they showed good spirit which will be important for the league season ahead.

Watched it on a live stream. 😉

Work rate was excellent and the new players (well the ones that survived the game 😂) looked decent.

Need to keep it up as I'm sure there are are plenty of teams in our league that will work just as hard.

Slightly worrying that three players went off injured with such a tight squad. Hopefully just precautionary.

Jim McInally providing some fairly cringeworthy toys out the pram "bothered/not bothered" copy in your website match report! Embarrassing stuff.

Noticed this also last season. That’s our 4th win in a row against Peterhead and think he’s complained about every one [emoji23] genuinely don’t think the game for us was ever in doubt. Embarrassing stuff indeed.

Agree that this isn't his first hissy fit in our games. I suspect he will have done similar many others times but can't be bothered to look for it. He just comes across as a bit of a dick and not in that "I hate him but wish he was involved in my team" way, just in a "state of you, you absolute roaster" way.

very sad but not unexpected,

no reason why a limited amount of fans cant be allowed back to any leagues games. we could easily hold a min 500 spectators.

lets get started with home fans only allowed in, negate any travelling issues.

Sad and worrying news but not unexpected. Let’s hope we can come through this and rebuild.

Its probably safe to say the club will need the support of  local fans more than ever before.

Surely it is easier to have fans of lower league clubs abide by social distancing rules when the average crowd is in the hundreds.

As toon 68 says , home fans only would be a start. Give the clubs much needed revenue. PFC average around 600 bodies per match(. Take off visiting fans it's probably around 550 home fans.

At Balmoor theres 1000 seats across the 2 stands. Seat 100 in each stand it leaves plenty standing area for another 300-400 souls to stand in the ground.

Wont be much different for other grounds I would imagine. If fans use common sense it must be possible. Face covering and social distancing can be adhered to.

How many season ticket holders are there?

Would they be getting first dibs on these seats and entries to the ground? If so, you are drastically limiting the amount of money actually coming into the till from reduced opening.

That's the issue right across the board at the moment. Season ticket holders, understandably, are the ones that would be let in first. They don't add any money to the club in that case, because they have already paid.

Peterhead general manager Martin Johnston is "surprised" other clubs have not announced redundancies after the League 1 club let go 29 people.

When the government's furlough scheme closes at the end of October, the group of part-time and occasional staff - mainly in hospitality - will leave.

Johnston says the lack of fans has put Peterhead under "serious constraints".

"For a club that has no money coming in, it is near impossible to continue to pay staff to sit at home," he said.

"I suspect Peterhead will not be the only club going into this situation and there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of businesses that will be making similar decisions as ours this week.

"We have no impending fears on the future of the club but we do have concerns that if we are in a similar situation come December, January, February then it may well be a different conversation."

A number of clubs in the lower leagues are streaming their games in a bid to claw back some of their lost income while fans are locked out.

However, for Peterhead that has failed to fill the financial black hole that the Covid-19 crisis has caused.

"When we played Brechin City in the League Cup we had 69 pay-per-view customers," Johnston said. "That generated £690. We normally take in somewhere in the region of a five-figure fee for a home game - that is the difference."

The PPV numbers for the Brechin game make for grim reading, it would be interesting to know how they were for the Cove Rangers game.

Presume season ticket holders wont have been included in the number but to be honest have never expected the streaming to be a big earner for us or most clubs at our level..Have watched our home games but intend just buying our 50/50 draw tickets rather than pay other clubs cash for their streaming. We have been upfront regarding laying staff off & a bit surprized we were able to keep them on the books until now. Would staff at a lot of clubs have already gone & unfortunately there will be more to follow.

Were your League Cup games included on the season ticket? If not (as I think is the norm), then surely the 69 paying customers would have included current ST holders who would have had to purchase the stream?

I haven’t seen much at all in the way of PPV figures from other clubs, but your figures do seem very low. Say in a normal year, at a minimum I’d assume you’d get 300 in attendance for a LC match with Brechin - to only have had just over 20% of that number purchase a stream of the match (at a reduced price) is worrying. It would be interesting to see how other clubs are comparing right now in terms of their streaming figures.
