Journalistic Heads Gone

Never a big fan of English when he's not talking about rugby but to regard his remarks as, in any way, a 'head's gone' is to devalue the whole concept and equates "head's gone" with "an opinion I disagree with".

The reaction from the St Mirren fans after their 3rd penalty went in was fine.  The reaction from the St Mirren players was embarrassing in the extreme and it's sensible of English to highlight it.

A Rangers fan accusing another team of embarrassing celebrations you say?

By being in a playoff they are no longer a top flight team. They had the opportunity to reclaim their place.
The season ends at 38 games.
Not being obtuse or whooshed
This isn't a thing though. They didn't get relegated and they never stopped being a top flight club.

Winning the play off, especially if you are the team in the higher division does feel( at the the time)  like winning a cup. Especially if your season has been a long line of defeats and draws.

It’s mainly relief, nothing wrong with it, and the play offs are designed to create extra tension. Maybe the only people who don’t realise this are the ones who have never stayed up via the play offs.

Correct, plus the Falkirk game for us was the only highlight of an incredibly pish season.

Yes, I think it's entirely fine for the victorious side to celebrate.

The reality is too that St Mirren, having only been up one season, were obvious candidates to get relegated, and were struggling against that fate all season.  They also defeated a bigger club than themselves in the play-off.  Not celebrating that would be weird.

We stayed up by the same route one division down.  It was maybe a bit lower key though, because we shouldn't have been there anyway, given that we have Dobbie.  We also entered the second leg of the final with a good lead, so it wasn't dramatic like Sunday was.

There's a long tradition though of sides celebrating staying up.  From David Pleat to Jimmy Glass, survival has provided some of football's best moments.  There's nothing wrong with that.
