I'm sorry, but that's just apologism. Everyone is well aware of the dangers of tragic da patter and nobody forced the keyboard into his hands.

I assumed the Sarge was kidding.

No, I think I'd want to do that alone, I'd expect Ireland wouldn't want it either.

Hard border it is then? Union dead. Great stuff. Would anyone else here take a union (loose albeit) between Scotland and Ireland, perhaps sharing Embassy’s/defence and certain aspects of foreign policy?

And probably not the last.

Is BJ's cabinet going to consist entirely of hard line ERG brexiteers?

Is that a rhetorical question?

If he puts too many Brexiters in government it will make a hard brexit or no deal more difficult to achieve, since fewer remainers in cabinet= fewer remainer MPs bound by collective responsibility.

Johnson has already created three or four potential rebels against a hard brexit in Hammond, Gauke and Duncan, which already loses his majority when DUP are taken into account.

I'm happy to confirm three

Shits about to hit the fan.

A Tory Minister, Alan Duncan resigned in anticipation of Boris being elected. Now, in itself, this isn't a big deal as it would be likely that Boris would bring in his loyalists anyway but it seems like he's went to Bercow and asked for some sort of vote and been declined for whatever reason.

In theory, just two defections could collapse the government. Under the FTPA, there would be two weeks for a government to be formed in the Commons before going to a general election - it could be a case of some going a national government type scenario.
