I think the highlights show that both McDonald and Allan were a handful for their opposite numbers. McDonald in particular was quite skilful, direct and not afraid to have a pop. I thought he added very little until the spring of last season. Livingston also got off to a slow return and struggled to get a regular start. Undoubtedly an energetic player but lacking consistency. Livingstone is exploring full time options and as tends to happen, this can take a while. He could have been in and out of several clubs on trial that have shown an interest. He doesnt really enjoy playing football and just in it for the money. Posted July 20, 2022 Share Posted July 20, 2022 I was actually surprised to hear that about Splaine because even before he got up to speed last season and was playing poorly, he was still always looking for the ball and not hiding. He made a couple of cracking saves in fairness (the one down low from McGinn was outstanding) but there's not a player in that squad or supporter in the stand who would be happy with him starting a game now, putting him in again has backfired massively. The incident where he came out of the box and did absolutely nothing was one of the worst bits of goalkeeping you'll see. It's hard to tell from the angle we were at in the stand if he could have saved the goal but he didn't give himself a chance anticipating the ball going the other way. There's the makings of a decent team in that squad of players but Cuddihy apart we are really poor at full-back and we're going to struggle to score a goal.
