Clyde FC; Season 2022-23

If you were a manager who would u take out the two
Mcstay frustrates me. Doesnt score enough goals or close for a central mid but one of the few players that can get up the park, pick a pass and perhaps with FT football could defo kick on...

Grant. Is a holding deep midfielder. Very Clever and goes about his business really quiet...

We.ll miss both of them (even perhaps with some of their faults that are very minimal) that is for sure

If we had the decision of only keeping one of them I would choose Grant. He is a bigger influence on how we play as a team, getting hold of the ball at the base of midfield and making us tick. Generally if Grant plays well, the team plays well. He rarely wastes a pass and is very composed.

McStay is a good player too though and has the attributes to develop into a very good player. He is more prone to losing the ball, partly as he plays further up the park and tried to make things happen, but also partly through carelessness. As mentioned if he goes full time and is well coached he has cracking potential.

McStay last 3 games was influential for the most part, pre Christmas he was worse than a man down and as everyone says it’s so frustrating because he has ability and physicality to be a good player at this level.

Well that financial update was grim to read. Even if we make it to a new season we will be playing with Lowland league pish level squad again. #TheDuffyYears
So will almost every other team in league one and two. As I've said previously, unfortunately, the players may have to take a hit to their income. Clubs will not have the money to pay at current levels.

Due to the Celtic match we may be in a slightly better position than most teams around us.

When it comes to means of funding the club, I hope they consider standing orders as one method.

An automated method would allow the club to budget on a known monthly donation income.

While it’s not great, I was actually fearing much worse, given the initial statement was warning of severe shortfalls. Obviously not good but we might actually be better off than many.

Contracts for everyone will be negotiated at a much lower figure now. We will not be alone in this, hopefully the attraction of Danny Lennon and Broadwood set up will help when we are trying to attract player on smaller contracts

Think that's it.

Having the above signed beyond this summer is a decent start and better off than some other clubs will be at this stage in terms of looking ahead to next season. I dare say most if not every club in the lower leagues will have reduced budgets.

Im fine with statement. Honest enough..

Personally not expecting anything positive from SPFL reconstriction for us and reading between the lines the club perhaps has this in mind moving forward..

More importantly with the funds we do have available DL needs to be very wise with his signings , Cant afford to bring in Wallaces. Smiths. Johnstons and Petkov wage to sit on the bench & a couple of under 19s starting before them, that im sure he knows himself..

Never a dull day indeed

Having read Livingston suggestion here is mine. First and foremost looks at Clyde's interest but does away with the tedium of 10 team leagues and adds more play off excitement.

Premier - 14 teams - play home and away gives 26 games. The split gives the top 6 another 10 games - total 36. The bottom 8 get 14 more = 40 games. 40 games gives more revenue.

Relegation for 1 team and then 12th,13th play off versus 2nd and 3rd in Championship.

Championship - 18 teams - play home and away = Minimum 34 games which is two less if you do not get involved in play offs, so League cup/Other cup can be restructured to make up extra games before Premier clubs join.

Promotion for 1 team plus 2nd and 3rd in play off.

Relegation for one team and play off for 16th and 17th versus 2nd and 3rd in Division 2.

That means 6 places are competitive in a league of 18, so up to 12-14 teams could be playing to win/avoid those playoffs to the end. Middle set may end up safe too early.

Division 2 - 12 teams - play home and away 44 games. Gives extra revenue( but may be a couple too many).

Promotion for 1 team plus 2nd and 3rd in play off versus 16th and 17th in Championship.

Relegation - either 1 team relegated or play off with HL/LL

Additional  alternative suggestion could be split in Championship after 17 games with top and bottom section.  Next  set of games determines play-off places plus Promotion/Relegation.

Agreed. Much as some here don't like the Jags it seems unfair to relegate them when they could have every chance of escaping. But it would be much more unfair to, effectively, relegate ourselves and Peterhead who weren't even close to relegation.

It would mean Celtic get their title, Hearts survive and Dundee United go up, while Clyde, Peterhead, Forfar and Cove get shafted.

Would be hard not to conclude that they care more about the perceived "bigger" sides.
