Clyde FC; Season 2022-23

Maybe @CK will be able to confirm but Lennon is surely the oldest ever player to make an appearance for Clyde? He must be registered as a player if he wasn't down as a trialist?

As for the game itself, a good win against a team with a few players who have played for the Celtic first team. Every one of their players would walk straight into our starting XI tbh. They were quick, great on the ball and passed us off the park at times but they can't defend. Our first two goals came from headers that should never really have resulted in goals. The third was an o.g, outstanding work from Lamont who sprinted about 50 yards to win the ball back and get us forward. His ball for Smith (and Lennon making a run!) was poor but he was absolutely knackered and got a bit of luck with the Celtic defender sliding it in the net.

Lyon did a decent enough job at right back when Cuddihy went off (he didn't look pleased at all), Lamont and Love worked their socks off as usual, Howie looked a lot better too.

It’s safe to say it all ended a little bizarrely. Well worth the win. A few guys with a few first team appearance for Celtic. Aitchison, Henderson and Miller. Deas who we are familiar with form his time at Cowdenbeath. A few decent players in their team but we played alright. Nothing to get excited about but a win’s a win.

I enjoyed that.

First half hour was a bit of a non-event, but we took over after that.

Much better performances from Howie, McNiff, Rumsby, McStay & Johnston. Smith did a power of running up front. Allison & Love were good. Lyon & Lamont too when they came on. McGee didn't have a lot to do, but looked pretty comfortable.

Howie's attempt from 70 yards would have been up there with my top Clyde goal of all time if their keeper hadn't just managed to keep it out.

And as for Danny running from the halfway line to back up Lamont's break, leading to the 3rd goal 😆. That would just have been the icing on the cake if he'd scored, instead of an o.g.

You love to see it.

ETA: Syvertsen’s got a video of the third goal on Instagram. What a burst of pace from Danny!

Just watched that, brilliant!

Quite gutted I missed the game and that cameo now. Hopefully he appears again in a later game in the competition. Wonder if Chris Fahey was the trialist sub keeper

As a consolation, you're now famous on the BBC: HERE
