Different circumstances obviously but didn't Lithgow wait on any possible better offers a couple of years in a row before re-signing for us when nothing happened?

Not interested in any game where the team has 'Colts' attached to it I'm afraid. SPFL totally ruined a perfectly good tournament ...Shame on them, not attended any Challeng cup game in new format and never will, which is a shame as was an enjoyable cup tournament up until then for lower league teams! I can- Chris Mcstay last year- the very last of the squad to re-sign.
haufdaft
I can- Chris Mcstay last year- the very last of the squad to re-sign.I had a look. He took around 6 weeks to re-sign last season so you've got a point. However, we can't keep waiting for him to make up his mind.

Agree- but he’s back now and so a decision one way or the other must be imminent.
nickCFC58
Almost six weeks after the playoff and he's still not re-signed. I'd consider that as an indication that he's not likely to be back. He’s been in Australia pretty much the entire time to be fair
haufdaft
He’s been in Australia pretty much the entire time to be fairI've never really seen why this would be a major factor.Distance isn't an issue when negotiations can go on via Skype, email or WhatsApp.Personally, I think he's likely to go elsewhere.Hopefully, we don't leave it too late to get a quality replacement.

Perhaps the club have agreed something with him through one of they channels but could be waiting till he returns and signs on the dotted line before announcing it? Perhaps wishful thinking on my part but could be a possibility
Scotchpie
Flew back to Glasgow, had lunch in the airport before flying to Alicante I'm told. Probably from Instagram though...
BroadwoodBoy
St Mirren are keen but taking him on a 3 day trial early next week before finalising a contract offer. Or that was the plan before their manager got the boot.

Probably from Instagram though...He’s back in Scotland now so I imagine we’ll have his decision in the next few days. Would be sad for him to leave but as many have already said, I have full confidence in the management team to bring in the right replacements either permanent or loans.
DeanMck
Mcstay is joining the New York yankees if he impresses on his trial. That’s a bit of a curve ball to our season but I’m sure we will be ok. -
BrigtonClyde
A big part of the reason we were promoted was having a decent defence for the first time in many years. We'll need at least as good next season, so for me that's the priority in terms of replacing Lang We're already stronger with striking options and we've good midfielders. We probably only need one McStay type player there, whether himself or someone else, and it's complete , and in fact would again be stronger than last year given who he's brought in already. But let's not go back to having to score 3 just to get a point, get the defence tight and that alone will see us OK

Sao Paulo
Losing Lang and McStay makes putting a good team out very difficult. We'd still probably be strongest in a 4-5-1/4-3-3. The new backline being: Wallace, McNiff, Rumsby and Duffie/Cuddihy. The five across being some mixture of Johnston, Lamont, Rankin, Grant, Cuddihy, Love or Syvertsen. I suppose Smith could play in midfield too, behind or in place of Goodie up front. I don't like the look of that though. Not at all. We'd be a toaty wee team beyond the midfield. And we'd be a lot less dynamic minus McStay. I reckon a left back, a centre back, a centre mid and a centre forward would complete us, but that's quite a shopping list. And it'd still be a headache, though probably a good one to have, to find the best XI and shape.
