glensmad
Interesting, I had never heard of Clyde having a junior team operating out of Shawfield. So that means that there were three junior teams all playing within half a mile of each other - Rutherglen Glencairn, Shawfield Juniors and Clyde Juniors. Thankfully one of them has survived and is still going strong after 123 years.

Celtic had purchased the park after Strathclyde went bust but never used it Celtic also took over Helenvale Park, home opf Parkhead Juniors which was their training ground for many years until the move to Lennoxtown. A couple of other junior clubs from the east end of Glasgow also went defunct around that time, the 1960's, Bridgeton Waverley and Dennistoun Waverley, mainly due to the movement of people out of the area to the peripheral estates such as Easterhouse and the new towns of East Kilbride and Cumbernauld. The comprehensive redevelopment of that part of Glasgow in the 1980's and 90's was the final blow. Baillieston were a completely different case; gangsster invovlement and greedy land developers saw another famous old club disapear.

justagoalie
Parkhead Juniors park was in Lilybank. Bordered by Methven St, Cuthelton Street, Canmore Street and London Road (across from Celtic Club and Barrowfield training ground). Houses and Helenslea Centre built on it now. Helenvale Park was owned by Glasgow Corporation Transport. A great playing surface that Celtic did use for training for a while but mostly by youth teams after it was changed to astroturf. The red ash park on way up Springfield Road with floodlights was Riverside School.
