Over the past decade, only a few times have I really got drawn in- when CM Punk was hot, Grado's struggle towards Fear and Loathing when up against Drew (probably the best of the lot) Daniel Bryan's Wrestlemania run and more recently the short-lived Becky Lynch road to Wrestlemania. This is class and the interactions between him and Jericho have been nothing short of brilliant so far. The 'King' gimmick is almost 25 years old, and it's been funny about twice since it began. So stale, so dull, so boring, so lacking in creativity. Worse though is the absolute crap Corbin had to stay there. Barking and poop bags. Fucking hell. The crowd were almost silent for it and they had to (very obviously) edit in boos at the end. No heat at all. It's not even Corbin's fault either. He delivered the lines as well as he could. He's actually a decent talker and, were he allowed, could probably deliver some good stuff. It's the lines he's given and the shite character he's been given. The awful writers in WWE have been horrendous failures from the very start and scripted promos are just the absolute worst. It's why when all the top promos in WWE since they starting scripting have been either 'shoots' or have allowed the person delivering it some degree of freedom to add their own stuff in and tweak it. Moxley is a great example of how shit the scripting and writing is. He was lame and goofy in WWE, delivering nonsense lines he didn't believe in and didn't like, playing a wacky daft character. Oh, John, you're so handsome and not at all a fucking weirdo in real life. Then they turn to Reigns and spit at him, and hand him a script, and tell him if he doesn't learn and read it verbatim, he's fired. Then they go out, and Reigns gets absolutely pantsed by Cena, left looking like an absolute dick as he struggles to think what to say. Is that Reigns' fault? Slightly, as he probably wasn't great at that kind of character at that point, but he's not a complete fucking moron. Let him go out there and talk with the same freedom as they give to the golden boys. So many of the roster are almost certainly good to great talkers, but when they're handed such awful, dated and unfunny lines it simply makes them look like idiots and does nothing for their characters. The storylines and character writing are awful too. A fucking 'sexiversary' and Lana having to spell out that 9 is more than 7, Rowan having something in a cage that he talks to like a baby, Short G etc. WWE seem to absolutely despise their audience.
