Lowland League Follower
What happened to the select squad, Would be very good to see a select squad from the current crop of EOS sides. Does anyone think there would be appetite for its reintroduction? Potentially could play against a Lowland League select side, East Region Juniors select and West Region Juniors. Would be a good way to end a season!!
leomessi1984
Few shoe ins for certain positions I think. Dean Brett & Kerr Young from Bonnyrigg. Coyne and Barbour from Lithgie. Lewis McKenzie from Dundonald. Could go on & on & would be some team!

Last prominent game was 9yrs ago... 1-0 defeat to England C at Spartans in May 2010... It was briefly revived in spring 2013 with Borders v Lothians trial at Gala then match v Scottish Unis at Heriot-Watt. Around that time there were also a couple of games v Scottish Amateurs (in Lanarkshire) and Edinburgh Amateurs (at Spartans), a cancelled game v Border Amateurs at Hawick, and an end-of-season exhibition v Spartans for their memorial trophy, although none of those were full-strength. Nothing for about 5yrs, IIRC. League select football has faded away over recent decades... Scottish League XI, Scotland Semi-Pro, Highland League XI, East of Scotland League XI all been abandoned. I doubt you'll see it back. Too much at stake club-wise with intense seasons, promotion/relegation, playoffs, etc. Some kind of Inter-League Cup would be great but when would you schedule the games? would clubs release players? etc. etc.

Can’t see it making a comeback anytime soon though edit to add..... pics of games at Airdrie and Spartans Edited May 20, 2019 by heedthebaa

Sheep77
Conner is good keeper but Murphy at Bo’ness is the best in the league

The Craigroyston keeper was excellent as well.
Scuzz
Wouldn't like to name a team, but the best goalkeeper I've seen in the last couple of seasons is the boy Lennox that played for Dundonald Bluebell. Seems to be man of the match whenever we play them.

naebor
Craig Saunders at Hawick And now of Blackburn was standout for a team lower down the league as well.
