English Premier League 2019-20

It's been mentioned before but another factor is that with a few exceptions the big Italian clubs don't own their stadiums so can't upgrade their facilities and lose out on various forms of revenue.

tbf Juve have generally still managed to put together some good teams but yeah. Napoli have been decent enough over the last few years too and picking up respectable results, but AC and Inter are miles away from how impressive they were when I was a teenager.

Juve have the financial muscle of Fiat behind them. Granted, Napoli have been good. Not sure where their money comes from tbh.

Juve own their own stadium, and have the Agnelli family money behind them. More Italian clubs are trying to build their own stadiums now but Italian bureaucracy isn't exactly the quickest in the world. Udinese have their own now, Atalanta are redeveloping theirs and will own it when it's done AFAIK; Fiorentina, Roma, Napoli, Inter and AC Milan, Cagliari and a few others are at various stages of planning/building their own grounds.

Udinese also own their ground albeit its a 99 year lease

Why are aging players always in demand with Italian clubs. The average age of some squads must be really high.

Because traditionally Italian football is much more technical than the EPL and played at a much, much slower pace where a more intelligent player is much more valuable to a club than a speed demon.

Not sure that necessarily explains Young though...

Commentator saying the referee has been encouraged to use the pitch side monitor today.

Would that not go against the point that they can’t change how they use VAR halfway through a season?

Or has the option always been there and the FA/Whoever just decided the farce we’ve endured until now was a better option?

Got to laugh at the booing and chants just now at Watford v Spurs.
The problem is with the referee’s communication system in general and has nothing to with VAR.
I thought the same, but then realised that the fans probably had no idea what was going on, so it's understandable that they'd assume it was a VAR intervention.
