English Premier League 2019-20

Both excellent strikes but I also agree that De Bruyne's was better.  We just have lower expectations of Shelvey because he looks like he's about to go and steal cars

Could argue this one all day. Can’t help but love when KDB (or anyone really) scores an absolute thunderb*****d, but the way Shelvey placed his shot was outstanding.

Southampton are garbage,

This game being largely dung is about the most predictable thing of the weekend.

Unfortunately my only other football viewing option is Genoa v Torino which is even more dung than this one.

On the subject of David Martin, a “journeyman” goalkeeper making his premier league debut at the age of 33 for his boyhood heroes. Keeping a clean sheet against one of your fiercest rivals and being reduced to a blubbering mess at full time. That’s what football is all about.

ETA... for the record, De Bruyne’s strike was better.

Shelvey's finish was good because he had all the time in the world to f**k it up but placed it a peach. De Bruyne's finish was more satisfying though. Hitting it on the drop in off the bar. Utter filth.

The Brighton goal in the Liverpool game seemed a strange one to me. The ref blew the whistle while the keeper was at the post setting up the wall. I only so the highlights though - were they taking the piss time wasting or something?

Watford have sacked Quique Sanchez Flores - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50619972.

A desperate move by a panicking board who have not invested in the squad.

He was appointed after the transfer window closed and did not have a chance to bring in any players.

ETA - Chris Hughton is rumoured to be his replacement. Doubt he could save them from relegation.

Utterly disgraceful how can that be a penalty & retake when the vile Alli got away with much worse a few weeks back. FIFA & IFAB need to get Riley in the fucking sea or ban England & FA affiliated teams from International Competition until they step in line. It is blatant cheating to benefit bigger teams so Sky & their ilk get their moneys worth.

See when an arsenal player is the first in the fucking box, how do they get the advantage from it? The folk in charge of football are absolutely killing it.
In terms of the actual rules, if players from both teams encroach then it should be a retake. VAR sticking its daft oar in is still unwelcome though.

Brilliant save. Harsh that it's been retaken IMHO.

Agreed. VAR is making the officials lazy, the assistant watches the keeper and the ref watches the edge of the box, shouldn't need VAR to review that. Fact is though that the guy who cleared the ball was well inside the box when the kick was taken, harsh but unfortunately correct decision.
