Crowd Wank

Recommended Posts

Average home attendance as a % of population.

1 Brechin att 581/8.07%

2 Montrose att 789/6.59%

3 East Fife att 697/6.45%

4 Stenny att 571/5.60%

5 Forfar att 665/4.73%

6 Arbroath att 950/3.97%

7 Raith att 1555/3.14%

8 Dumbarton att 617/3.08%

9 Stranraer att 339/2.60%

10 Airdrie att 763/2.05%

Suspect East Fife will have benefited from Raith and Airdrie locals at Ibrox. Brechin possibly inflated with Arbroath title winning visit amongst other variables. Not promising 100% accuracy but mainly 2011 census based.

I think that percentage flatters us I'm afraid as you probably only used the population of Methil instead of aggregating Leven/ Methil/Buckhaven...

I imagine all the Angus clubs got a wee derby boost, considering a third of your home games were derbies.

Yes that's probably true and on that subject Stranraers location is definitely a huge negative. I'm saying nowt about "billy big baws" Rovers though..

Forfar had a good one at Christmas time but other than that doubt we've benefitted much aside from having more home fans through the gates

Best away support at us was Raith before Christmas

If you define our "local area" as Levenmouth  (37651 as of 2014) rather than just Methil (10800, from Wiki), we are rooted to the bottom of the table at 1.85%.

Yes. I was being kind and Stenny is another difficult one to draw the boundary. Could Raith lay claim to any of that area or would it just be seen as (smirks) glory hunters going to Starks ?

Derbies made a significant difference to Arbroath's average attendance this season.

Average Angus derby crowd = 1,105

Average non-Angus derby crowd = 873

sad and shocked to see Raith with such poor attendances.

looking at that table we are going to skoosh the crowdwank league, easily.

Club catchment areas are generally pretty difficult to decide on. All of Levenmouth would be solidly within East Fife's but towns like Kinghorn, Burtisland, Thorton probably within Raith's and Glenrothes probably equidistant between the two.

Our figure benefitting from all the derbies and probably the LPCT giveaway for the Stenny game (and the SC game against United if that's counted). Nevertheless, very impressive. The days of barely 200 in to watch the Shire/Rovers well gone for now....

Can see this forum is going to be a big change from the League 2 one, after a whole season of listening to Clyde fans waffling & greeting non-stop having facts & figures & even percentages to look at is going to take a bit of getting used to. Impressive stuff. :)

Rovers is worse when you consider Glenrothes...

20 mins work so don't quote me. That said bar the issue of catchment areas it's not far off.
