You don't need to be a member of Facebook to see their page, I'm not!

I'll be keeping an eye on Fortrose & Rosemarkie Union. Also usually watch out for Thurso Swifts, my brother in law's old side, but they got scudded out 8-0 in the prelim round by Pentland Utd...

Their Facebook page is here. The matches in Lewis are usually on Friday nights.

Brilliant, thanks for that.

Pardon my ignorance. I’m part of the West Central Scotland amateur football bubble.

Is there any way teams from Lerwick, Kirkwall, Stornoway, etc. could play against a team from the mainland in this format? Is that a usual occurrence or does it happen in the later rounds?

Yes thats a usual occurrence.

It just happens that the two Shetland sides were drawn together in the first round.

The cup is regionalised into sections for the first couple of rounds, then goes all in.

Usually North (Caithness and Sutherland), South (Ross-shire and Inverness-shire), Northern Isles (Orkney and Shetland) and Western Isles.

Matches between teams from the islands and mainland are often played halfway on neutral grounds.

A shame they don’t play in the Scottish Amateur cup. Wouldn’t mind an away day to Orkney or Shetland. Though it would be more a weekend away than a day.

It doesn't really fit in with the summer season up here, unfortunately. It would be good to see a few clubs have a go though. One issue is player availability, since many players in the NCL in the winter also play for an amateur side in the summer...

Orkney is'nt too bad logistically you can be in and out in a day, but Shetland would mean the overnight ferry from Aberdeen or an expensive return flight that can easily be delayed with summer fog.

Thanks for clarifying that. If a team from Stornoway drew a team from Shetland, would they sail or fly to the neutral venue? An expensive trip, no?

Ferry everytime id think, much cheaper.

They would normally play in Dingwall or Thurso, sometimes Culbokie or Contin are used when it’s a team from the western isles vs Orkney/Shetland teams
