Why not try the John Lambie approach.......................batter their heids together in the dressing room just before kick-off until they've all got concussion, and then send them out telling each of them they're Pelé, or in the 'keeper's case Gordon Banks perhaps?

Before his car accident, of course.

Pele can’t stay up either.

Plenty ex-Scottish League sides or their phoenix's in southern pyramid. East Stirlingshire. Gretna. Bo'ness. Leith. Peebles. Mid Annandale. Nithsdale.

Edinburgh City made it back... it only took 60yrs...

There will be no one left alive on here to witness the return  of the week Rangers then :).  Unless an extremely ancient OAP of course.

Back then you could only return if someone folded: at least you can play back in now, albeit still very restricted.

Btw there are old fans who saw us pre-SFL. I'd spoken to a couple who began in mid/late-1940s.

Not a play off game but just to show what can happen in fitba.

Striving hard to manufacture  a tenuous link to Berwick... that Daryl Healy fella played with Whitehill before Bingham took him to Selkirk and then he moved on to Berwick. Anyways I think he had probably just left WW when they had an even better comeback in dec 2018. 3-1 down at home to Gala with 8 minutes left and won 5-3.

I guess Bo'ness could have tried the C division thing post-WWII as well, but that would have meant missing out on this:

Moral of the story. If you do go down, it isn't the end of the world and there can be plenty of excitement outside of the SPFL level.

Two good goals from Lex Shields. His 2 sons Dene and Jay later played for Cowden with wee Jay who looked like his dads double also having a loan spell at Berwick.

I've been sitting awhile by the fire this evening, leafing through the club centenary history - which I confess hasn't been off the shelf for some time. Its author Tony Langmack died in February.

This week will rank with the defining days of 140yrs. Founding fathers. Joining the Border and EOS leagues; Scottish Cup; entering SFL. Building the ground with the sweat and toil of the fans - carting up turf from Goswick, bringing a stand by train. Fighting off Rangers attempt to expel us. League Cup SF in 1964. Of course 1967 - always 1967. Dave Smith and glory. Ian Cashmore.

It stops in 1981. Since then there's been highs and lows: reviving under Jeffries, the trials of the late 1980s, almost going bust in the early 1990s. Those cup-ties with Hearts and Rangers. Paul Smith and gunning for promotion to the First Division. 'That Diack Goal'; going down again. All are the mists of the past. All the present can try to do is emulate the passion, the pride... and the performances.

'Mon the Gers.

'Mon the Dream Team.

Wrote that last week...

Haven't the heart to say much at 4-0 down.

If a miracle happens so be it.

Otherwise this is it - remember us when we're gone.

Berwick Rangers FC in the Scottish League: Saturday 11th August 1951- Saturday 18th May 2019 :(.

Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers that begat us…

These were honoured in their generations, and were the glory of their times.

Some have left a name behind them, that their praises might be reported.

And some have no memorial; who are perished, as though they had never been…

Their descendants shall remain forever, and their glory shall not be blotted out.

Their bodies are buried in peace; but their name liveth for evermore.

Football historian Andy Mitchell  @AndyMitchMedia tweeted copies of programmes from the first game Berwick played in the league and the first game at "New" Shielfield recently.

No sign of dougie brydon in the squad. Cant say I'm disappointed. Another Harvey flip signing. Hasnt looked like hes given a toss since he signed and was absolutely woeful last weekend.
