Yes Scotland could join the Euro like the rUK could still join the Euro.

You're posting like it's the year 2013.  All your fairytale noise has long since been debunked any there's been apologies.

Not true. Britain has an opt-out and has no obligation to join the Euro. An independent Scotland, having left the UK, would have such an obligation like another new applicant. Only a Treaty amendment, requiring the agreement of all Member States, would remove that obligation.

It isn't 2014. You really don't have to do this.

in due course

Sweden joined 24 years ago and meets all the criteria for Euro membership but one. They refuse to change their laws to give supremacy to the European Central Bank. No country has been forced to join the Euro.

Worth pointing out the SNP won the highest vote share of any party in western Europe.

In any other country this would be front page news.

Waiting on Bishop Briggs pulling out an article from 2004 to "prove you wrong".

No the UK thinks that Scotland is a region and affords it only 6 MEPS.

The EU knows Scotland should be a normal country, thinks the UK is fucking batshit mental, and is happy to increase Scotland's MEP's by 250% as afforded to normal countries of the size of Scotland.

You are a fucking idiot.

We move over to your greater wisdom.

You might be happy that Scotland is afforded less MEP's than the West midlands of England.   Others think we should be allocated the same amount of MEP's as countries of similar size and population to Scotland.   Countries like Ireland, Finland etc.

That's not greater wisdom, just entry level wisdom

Ireland and Finland have been nation states (before the EEC...) since the 1920s...

Can you explain your logic as to why this means they'll receive more MEP's than Scotland would?

We'd think better of you if you and BB were on nodding terms with reality.

Well Perthshirebell mentioned these countries in HIS argument....

Good argument for independence there. Finland was repressed by Swedish and Russian rule for over 800 years till they were liberated in 1917. Now they're flourishing as an independent state with a hi tech economy, in close harmony with the EU. Similarly Ireland. It's good to have something to aspire to.

Denmark, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Slovakia all have substantially more MEP's as normal countries.  Scotland is level with Luxembourg.

Why do you think it's best for Scotland not to be a normal country but controlled by the UK gov?

Agreed. Next time I'm voting for independence as I'm now in total agreeance with Holyrood and Westminster governance, and whatever, on this. Kidding.

The Treaties have not changed.
Like Norway, an independent Scotland should join EFTA to keep its own currency.
Don't understand how you're not getting the mechanics of the optional ERM alignment here? It's been pointed out to you a fair few times. What is it you don't understand, genuinely.

Scotland has been a 'nation state' far longer than Finland or the Republic of Ireland put together. But so what? What point are you trying to make?
