If QP are amateur, how come you can sign a (presumably) professional player for a season from Hibs? Serious answer. We're not paying his wages. Hibs have recently signed one of our youths for nothing so they have given us this loan player for nothing in return. They didn't have to but both clubs benefit obviously. We have been signing loan players for years now without paying them, usually because whoever our manager was had a good relationship with that club's manager and they saw the benefit in their player getting competitive experience. Of course, if we go pro soon which is looking likely then we will start paying players but then we also won't have our best youth players leaving without us getting compensation Edited July 9, 2019 by Mick1867

To be fair, the better loan players tend to go to other clubs who will pay their wages. Roberts tried to get loan players in all of last season without any succes. It's also quite unusual for us to get a loan player for a whole season, normally just for a few months and occasionally for half the season I'm not calling us a true amateur club, if we were we would be playing in the amateur leagues. The only thing amateur about us these days is we don't pay our players. We're not breaking any rules though, all the other players now sign amateur contracts and can leave once they give 28 days notice It's all currently being debated on the Queen's Park thread. You might have missed it but we'll probably be going pro soon like everyone else Edited July 11, 2019 by Mick1867

Neilly
I always feel slightly better about our uninspiring pre season when I see the gang Brechin have brought in. A third consecutive relegation would not surprise me.

Best Team in Angus
Ahead of the Betfred Cup group tie against Forfar Athletic this afternoon, Manager Barry Smith has moved to sign young midfielder Kieran Inglis. Inglis, who will turn 19 next month, came through the Academy at Dundee United and spent time on loan at Tayport last season before departing Tannadice in the summer. Kieran featured as a trialist in the second half of the pre-season friendly against Falkirk and he comes straight into contention for the local derby at Station Park.

Best Team in Angus
Brechin are pleased to confirm the signing of French striker Emile Ngoy. The frontman, who stands at 6 foot 3, has been training with the club throughout pre-season and netted against Dundee in the friendly at Glebe Park. Despite only being 22 years of age, he is well travelled having had stints in Portugal and Italy and most recently played for Llanelli Town who were relegated from the Welsh Premier League last season. Manager Barry Smith said, "Emile did well for us in pre-season. He's a tall striker with good pace and he's shown in training he's got a real eye for goal.”
