Semi-finals: Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November

Final: Sunday 20th December

A Christmas cup final - as a unique event, this could be fun. They should kitsch the hell out of it - I want cheesy 70s songs, fake snow, glitter, the works.

How dare they *checks notes* organise three cup games that will be hugely profitable for all the clubs involved.

The comments on the Facebook announcement by the SFA would make you shoot yourself in the face.

Are we even allowed to train yet?

As for profit, you're at it surely. Lets not kid anyone on that this tournament is being concluded for the benefit of one team only.

I'd guess you are allowed to train now or very soon given that even some Tier 6 clubs are starting on Monday. Even if you haven't, fortunately the game is being played in three months, not tomorrow.

The clubs get a cut of the semi-final and final gates. Even if they can't have it full by then it's still worth a ton of money to all four semi-finalists. It's being concluded for all four teams, given that they all wanted it to, and they'll all be wanting to, you know, win the Scottish Cup.

Have they said anything about player eligibility for the semis and the final?

Nobody will be cup-tied - all registered players can play.

You can start social distanced sessions  Just like premiership clubs had to start with.  The games are months away anyway and part of your regulated season.  Would be different if it was being  Hearts we’re playing tomorrow, however there’s plenty time to get up to speed.  You will make good money from the semi, especially if fans are back. With fines and legal bills to pay it will help you out massively.  Turn it down if you want.

I believe there’s no ‘cup tied’ rule for the remainder of the tournament.(and presumably also the eligible on the original date of the tie rule has been scrapped). Presumably suspensions still apply

It's only 3 months away. What are the realistic chances of any fans being allowed in do we reckon?

You think the other three clubs don't want to play it? Montae fk.

And surely you've noticed that clubs have already started playing friendlies, no?

You can bet your life that the competition would have been cancelled if Celtic were not in the last four.

This talk of millions in the coffers but Scottish semifinals are usually poorly attended

An Edinburgh derby semi-final would clearly have been a sellout in normal circumstances, and last year Celtic v Aberdeen had 47k. That's about 100,000 fans, which at £30 a pop on average takes you to about £3m.

The whole reason given by the SFA for the cup not being abandoned (or played to a finish) was to have a big pay day with fans at the game. This clearly is not going to happen.

It therefore seems only fair to award the cup (and associated prize money of course) to Hearts as the team with the best cup record in the tournament when it was stopped. That's how things work these days isn't it? We "deserve" the cup on that basis?

Oh hang on Celtic are still in it going for a 92nd treble in a row or whatever. As you were. We all know had Celtic not still been in the SC it would have been cancelled.

Of course if the SFA did the fair thing and awarded the cup to Hearts, we now wouldn't get the European spot we would "deserve" as cup winners because Aberdeen got that for.... reasons. That's all fair though.
