Premier clubs won’t vote that through - what benefit do they get

Surely they should look at the proposal for the good of Scottish football rather than serving themselves?  Just like all lower league clubs should look at the Colts proposal whilst considering the bigger picture?

I wouldn't say that has been our downfall tbh. It contributes but having 14 players taken to London for operations costing well in excess of £100k has burnt our fingers, but there is literally nothing you can do other to forecast that. The most we have had in previous season was 4 operations. Combine that with a fall in walk up revenue of over £100k than I don't think the board could really do much to protect the profits we have made in the last 4 seasons.

Edit to add our club budgeted on last season's gate and merchandise sales so this is a factor in the club struggling, I think it's crazy that clubs have pumped up their players wages because they are going to Easter Road instead of building up cash reserves

Yeah, there are obviously costs specific to Dunfermline in having to sack a management team and an insane number of injuries which have contributed and can’t be applied to other clubs, but I found the average wage point telling considering McArthur was talking in general terms about the whole division there.

The club finishing top of this division gets £562,500. 5th gets £250K, 10th gets £175K. In the last season of the SFL in 2012/13, the respective amounts were £68K, £64K & £58K. If clubs have generally found themselves in financial difficulty through consistently throwing those six figure increases in revenue on the playing budget over the last six seasons, then they’ve only got themselves to blame really.

Quite right any club spending serious cash on wages and agent fees in this division really need to have a look if it's sustainable. It clearly isint so if agents hard ball they are going to find that their players won't be playing in the Championship.

More money than ever being spunked on player wages to produce the worst collective standard of football ever seen in the second tier; we've arrived at peak Scottish football now.

IMO it coincides with more clubs staying 'at home' when it comes to recruitment on the whole.  You pay more wages on perennial jobbers like Gary Harkins, Mark Kerr, Joe Cardle all whom have have the SPFL on their CV, that you do for better players from south of the border, who want less.

Lower the prize money for the League Winners from 13% of the total prize pot, to 10%.

It's hardly like that extra £400-600k is do or die for Celtic.

Do you know, or know of Peter Lawwell?

Most players in Scotland have the SPFL on their CV currently.

Yes and the Old Firm will counter by saying so as part of the package our colts join SPFL as that is also good for Scottish football

Why not give each championship team a pick of two young players each from the top teams? Lowest team from last season gets first pick.

That way most players would get more game time. Colt teams just benefit rangers and Celtic.

I see Hamilton are going for youth next season, Celtic and Rangers could always do the same. If they are good enough they can play.

They were going to try that a few years back, think Gordon Strachan suggested it. Craig Levein and others started moaning they wanted a say in what clubs their young players go to so it was scrapped.

Same old problem in Scottish Football everybody just thinking of themselves.

Is there a league in the world today with 42 teams in it? The uniqueness would only add to the TV money, what with the end of season drama being seconded to none

I think there’s a reason why this idea is unique, tbh....

Yip, even the Berwick ones can make that claim.
