Montrose v Queens / Queens v Montrose

Recommended Posts

Very few genuine options to change things but I would shuffle the pack on a best endeavours basis:-

Mehmet
Mercer Doyle Fordyce/Brownlie Marshall

Stirling McGuire Wilson Dykes

Todd Murray

McGuire mainly plays in a holding midfield role according to his father . He has a good engine and decent on the ball. Neither Fordyce or Brownlie convince me but hopefully they can win some headers and give us some physicality at the back. Saturday and at Dingwall Doyle and McGuire looked weak and vulnerable as a pairing.

I might be reluctantly tempted to play Dykes wide left where he can work hard and put in a shift. His finishing or lack of it has become so deep rooted now I think Todd and Murray have a better chance of scoring from a central position.

We certainly can’t afford to carry any injured passengers as Montrose will battle for everything.

It is hard to visualise this group of players having the collective drive to dig us out of this mess but you can only hope that we can somehow retain our Championship status. The consequences of failing are dire.

Mon the Mo.

I've not been to Links Park for ages. In fact the last season I was up there Mo were in the old first division with Davie Larter in goal a young Ivo den Bieman and Doug Rougvie in charge.

Whoever wins this tie I hope they win the playoff final.

Every chance Montrose can win this. We are an absolute shambles at the moment.

It is like this is where Naysmith came in - we were an absolute shambles at the time we lost to Albion Rovers in the Cup.

I can barely believe we're in this position. Our second-last pair of play-off games 4 years ago were to stay in the league (and basically stay alive). This pair is for a potential crack at an outrageous long-shot promotion to the second tier, and weirdly, I think we've got half a chance in this if we can clog Dobbie off the park and take a lead down to Palmerston. I only saw their Aberdeen cup tie and the house-of-cards collapse against County on the telly - QOS clearly have got some quality about them somewhere, but not much application. Very bizarre time to bin a manager, the board doing the equivalent of a pissed-up suit walking into the casino at 4am hitting the roulette table going ALL THE BEANS ON RED PLZ (unless there's someone been lined up beforehand). Aberdeen-based commitments next Saturday rule me out of the Dumfries trip sadly (hoping to sneak up to leg one of Berwexit   if possible, with eyes all on Twitter),  but absolutely buzzing for the Tuesday game.

Dobbie is extremely unlikely to be on the park on Tuesday.  Was on it yesterday but clearly wasn’t anything like fit enough. Even if he plays next Saturday, I wouldn’t expect any special attention to be necessary.

Is either game live on telly?

Nope.

Both legs of the play off final are live on BBC Alba.

Wednesday May 15 -*Championship play-off final, 1st leg
Lowest-ranked team at home in 1st leg
Live on BBC ALBA, kick-off 7.45pm

Saturday May 18 -*Championship play-off final, 2nd leg
Highest-ranked team at home in 2nd leg
Live on BBC ALBA, kick-off 4.05pm

I remain unconvinced that we'll be involved.

We have 2 buses coming down on Saturday  . Any good nearby boozer reccomendations please
We do? Both supporters club or one a pub in town?
I've looked at the train and it's possible but a bit of an epic.

Anyway are Queens looking forward to the prospect of a derby against Annan next season?

There is a bar in the main stand at Palmerston.  Nearest pubs to the ground are about 5 minutes walk,   The Spread Eagle,  The Market Square Globe,  The Salutation and The Devorgilla,  all very close to each other.  Over the bridge away from Palmerston towards the Town centre there's Cavens Arm in Buccleuch St (busy but good for food,  but no children rule),   Robert The Bruce (Weatherspoons)  further up Buccleuch St, also a few of varying reputation and hospitality  in the  Whitesands and The Vennel maybe about 10 minutes walk from the ground.

The Lochar Inn was the best pre match boozer a few years back. Not been in recently. Other favourites of mine in Dumfries are The Hole in the Wa and the Globe, although neither are in close proximity to Palmerston.

Lochar Inn,  now under fairly recently new management.  I know some team supporters buses  stop off there as it's en-route to Dumfries on the A701 but about 3 miles from Palmerston. It does have the advantage of a bookies next door though.

Agree with most of that ,BUT due to the events in the dressing room after the match ,I wouldn't expect Dykes to extend his loan deal .
