Nah, that's a case of mistaken identity. I think you'll find it was this boy who did the actual deed:

...Albert Kidd Day on this fine May morning.

Though I think the spirit of the day has been lost somewhat in the commercialisation of the holiday, we should still take some time out of our day to remember its true meaning.

The 3rd of May 1986 could've been a day cemented in Hearts, and indeed Scottish football, folklore forever. Instead, it's cemented in my wankbank.

Here are a few of my favourite photos from the glorious afternoon in question.

Any room for a Cammy Bell inclusion?

My fave non Killie game I've attended.

Next was Hearts thumping Hibs 5-1 at Hampden, just for the lolz as I was in the Hibs end.

What a day that was.

Ah, Ibrox in 1998, a true story about that Rangers v Killie game you may or may not recall.

Well known Blue nose referee Bobby Tait was retiring at the end of that season and had made an informal request to have his final game at Ibrox

Unbeleivably he was allocated this one, being before the advent of social media and forums like this it almost went un-noticed, a fairly unspectacular game was fizzling out to a 0-0 draw with Rangers, only a point behind Celtic in the title hunt having toiled in front of goal, McCoist in particular had one of those rare days when he couldnt buy a goal, missing a couple of sitters.

Then it gets interesting, despite neither physio being on Bobby Tait's Magic Watch* conjured up about six minutes stoppage time, in the last of said added on minutes, after another failed set piece with nearly everyone in the Kilmarnock box Rangers were hit on the counter and an unmarked Ally Mitchell hammered a fatal nail in Rangers 10-in-a-row coffin

Karma.....

*Google 'Bobby Taits Magic Watch'

Some bounce at the goal.

Craig Wighton deserves a spot in this club too.

Worth remembering United were already all but down anyway, so your biggest day in 40 years mattered not a jot.

Thank you.

Only needing to avoid losing 2-0 on their own patch on the final day of the season to secure the title.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Losing 2-0 and missing out on the title at the hands of Killie by 0.042 of a goal on goal average, when goal difference would've won them the title.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Going to the suits at Hampden and asking them to scrap goal average and bring in goal difference.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

The SFA agree and do away with goal average in favour of goal difference six seasons later.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Fast forward 15 years and they only need to draw at Dens Park to secure the title.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Choke and lose 2-0 again, and throw away the title on goal difference.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

When the goal average they did away with would've won them the league.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Blame St Mirren for their own inability to draw a game of football.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Still without another title since, and hopefully will never win one again.  neville.jpg.77837c4f59dfa2fefe42feb94ef63119.jpg

Heartsd it.

I’m glad in these troubled times that Dundee fans have something to celebrate, even if it’s just vicariously.

To be fair to Hearts, that is alot closer than Hibs have gotten to be Champions of Scotland in any time in recent memory....indeed, they have largely/always been playing second fiddle to their (far more successful and bigger) Edinburgh rivals since, erm...??

I think you'll find my club is very much alive and our timeline was preserved in 2004 when we exited administration after an uncertain and unsettling period.

Nae luck. :)

The 1980s. Hibs were clearly the bigger and better club before Hearts' Mercer blood money came rolling in. Something something Bosnian pensioners.

Hearts were a yo-yo club in the seventies while we were swording Europe's finest and finishing second regularly.

The rise of Thatcherism and neoliberalism and Heart of Midlothian Football Club is in perfect sync.

Would I go as far as to say that it was all a conspiracy to keep the warrior poet migrants from Leith down?

Yes, yes I would.

Anyway, don't taint this perfect thread with your boring shite, please and thank you.
