Stenhousemuir -vs- East Fife

Recommended Posts

East Fife will have to recruit wisely for next season after a disastrous end to the season.Still a decent season with victories over the Rovers and some good cup wins. However the alarm bells should be ringing for what is likely to be a more difficult league next year.

That was probably the most entertaining game I've been to this season. A disastrous back-pass, a world-class equaliser, dodgy penalty calls, gilt-edged chances and a red card. A brilliant day out, all in, and we're up to ninth place!

Bring on Brechin City next weekend!

We have the majority signed up for next season, no word on Meggatt or Watson yet and those are 2 key players that will certainly need to replaced with similar quality.

Another 4/5 players will be needed as I would think the fringe players in the squad will be gone.

Good game yesterday full of incident.  Felt East Fife were quite cynical at times although the ref allowed play to continue and took no action afterwards. Donaldson's goal was a cracker and probably GOTS.  We ceratinly looked a better team when Gibbons replaced Dingwall and Duthie was driving on and looked good when he came on.   Great saves from Smith kept us in the gameespecially the penalty.  Please no silly penalty late in the game next week.

Only concern is Marsh's booking. That takes him to 12 for the season and is it a 1 match ban after every 3? If so does he miss next week or the play off's?

All to play for next week and  at least a draw will do, Brechin will have to come at us and we should have chances on the counter.

Good highlights as usual. The camera behind the goals is a great addition (and it showed just how brilliant Ruaridh Donaldson's goal was!) I'm surprised it didn't include Kieron Gibbons' shout for a penalty or Seb Ross' miss at the end, but still.

Fair play to the daft old mark standing next to the commentator, they were getting a bit carried away at points there.

The daft old man getting carried away was actually the cameraman who also missed Ross’ header at the end!

Tbh I completely forgot about the Stenhousemuir penalty claim which is why it wasn’t included

We were debating it in the Wee Bar after the match - I thought East Fife's claim was a stick-on (something backed up by the highlights) but reckoned Gibbons was a bit too keen to take a tumble for our call.

Some performance from Graeme Smith too, he was tremendous yesterday.

Good highlights.  How sweet was Donaldson's goal - what a cracker.  McBrearty perhaps lucky to stay on when he pulled their player down.  Enjoyable game, especially after last week,  where either team could have stolen it with some good chances either side and some great saves from Smith and the post denying McGuigan.  As said above Gibbons and Duthie put in good performances when they came on.  Roll on next week.

Bans after 3 matches are for Cup competitions. If this is his 12th League card then...It’s a one match ban after 6 bookings, and a two match after 12, (3 after 18 and so on...)...effective two weeks after the booking taking the player over the limit in question  so he’d be able to play next week and for the hopeful play-off semi 1st Leg.

However he should miss the 2nd Leg and 1st Leg of the final, if that is indeed his 12th?

However.... those rules are effective for bookings “IN THE SAME COMPETITION”...I’m fairly certain in this rule that League 1 and League 2 will be regarded as separate “competitions”..do you know how many of Marsh’s bookings were in L1? Anyone confirm? Anyone know whether any League 2 bookings would be regarded as a separate competition?

perhaps @craigkillie or some of the Infowire nerds can help?

The rules seem to be clear that League 1 and League 2 are separate for the purposes of the caution rules. Therefore he would need to have been booked 12 times in League 1 to incur a ban.

Just soaking in the highlights there...perhaps if you were doing camera work for your team you would possibly try and refrain from roaring “AWW WAIT, DATS WOBBISH, DATS WOBBISH MON”...absolute tinpot behaviour!
