Saints vs Saintees 27/4/19

Recommended Posts

Dargo's volley and Carey's 40 yarder, both against Hearts, up there as well.

Higdon's 45 yard thundercunt volley off the bar and in against Falkirk is my favourite goal. Dont think there is a video of it sadly.

Well done to the Maureens for managing to stay up, maybe you’ll do something more memorable next season.
To be fair if ( and it's still a decent sized if ) we do stay up it has been some turnaround . We were effectively down by October/November. We were getting pumped left/right/centre. Humiliation was on the cards, in any other season it would have been.

Even after January when we seen vast improvements, our manager was getting called a school teacher and out his depth.

Doesn't excuse our pishness for the first 25 or so league games though [emoji39].

Correct. We've went on two horrendous runs this season, a run of 2 points from 12 games and then a second where we picked up 4 points in 11.

That we are even in the position we are in just now since January is remarkable. On any other given season we'd be long gone but you can only play what's around you.

We don't and never have done.

Indeed. Of all the desparate pish on this thread this is up there with the best of it.

Broonie ('above and beyond the call of duty' by working less than part time apparently) simply manages prudently. At no point has there been a need for a 'bail out' or a loan.  We don't pay transfer fees or huge wages, don't make stupid, desparate 'glamour' signings. We treat players fairly, the manager has the respect of the dressing room and the players have the respect of the fans. Result: a decade of rock-solid top flight football, and a major trophy, which shores up the financial position of the club.

If you honestly think that St Johnstone have 'bought' their success in recent years then that's just more bitter tears, as Mirren could and should have been able to do the same or better with their enormous crowd revenues and legendarily loyal support.

So why do you think your team is such a failure?

Imagine what we could achieve if we actually used the £2m "safety net" we've saved up and stored away over the past decade :o

But that's why it's a safety net .. and the reason we're one of the very few financially viable clubs in Scotland.

And all on such  tiny, tiny crowd revenues too.

Just wait till you no longer have a chairman with deep pockets.

There's plenty to have a go at St Johnstone about. Our style of play, our lack of fans are the standard lines of attack, even from St Mirren supporters.

But that's an ignorant comment. We last had money put into the club by the chairman 25 years ago. And he got it back within six months. Since then we've been relegated twice while seeing Dundee, Livingston, Motherwell and Hearts outspend us  – before they went into receivership or administration. Yet we've never been in debt; only spent what we had. We don't have a chairman with deep pockets. We're just well run.

Alan Stubbs, obviously.
