Airdrie vs The Champions

Recommended Posts

Luke Donnelly......now there’s an issue
That was turgid viewing.
Arbroath couldn't be f*cked and the Airdrie youth team huffed and puffed but it was devoid of any real football.
The boy Donnelly is absolute cactus, and McIntosh up front for Airdrie is absolute dung, how he bagged 2 goals is anyones guess.

Can't believe the lesser spotted Johnny Page was wheeled out as well [emoji85][emoji85].

Page played relatively well, hes by no means the answer but I reckon the biggest problem in our defence is our much loved captain.

Whether Arbroath thought today was a friendly, it was obvious that the Airdrie players didn’t.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Hawkshaw this season, and he continued to impress.

Also thought Glass finally came on to a game today. I liked the way he cut inside rather than go wide. He looked dangerous whenever he did that.

Also feel that credit is due to Page. For someone who has taken a lot of stick this season, he looked solidly in control.

Every time I've seen Hawkshaw, he gets better and better.
He's involved, wants the ball and always looking to set up going forward. I certainly hope he's in the plans for next year, and by the looks of it, he is.

I was surprised to see Page return but he certainly made no errors today and had a solid game ;indeed he played better than Robertson has in that back three. Whether he is an answer next season is up for grabs but I did think he would have been a success at the start of season.  Just when I said this game is not exactly enthralling, the  Arbroath back line gave away that chance. Initially I thought Hawkshaw had fluffed it but he set it up for McIntosh. That opening goal did let Airdrie get ahead in the rest of the game. The red card was merited as again O'Brien got caught out. The spaces were open for the good footballers to do some damage and Glass was more directly creative, and set up the 2nd. I think it is a bit unfair to criticise Mcintosh as he has missed some chances over the season  but he does score goals. It was good to see Sean McIntosh finish off a good move. I think his last goal was against the Rovers 2 season's ago? It was certainly not the strongest Arbroath performance especially with a front two of Donnelly and Spence and clearly the Bunnet man was not too happy. Given how erratic we have been it was good to see a win and have managed to take points from everyone. Mind you we beat the Champions and lose to Stenhou.semuir in a bizarre season. I hope Stenny relegate Brechin next week if only to reduce the Angus trips. Also well done to Albion rovers for safety dance. On to Stranraer for a clean sweep next week?
