lowenan
Would be the first time a team from the Highland League wins the playoff, but Berwick Rangers do seem poor at the moment.
Hauzen
EK offered very little so far... quite disappointed in how they've played. Cove have looked solid if unspectacular but very comfortable.

Agree that Cove would've romped the Lowland League but then again a lot of Lowland sides had decent results against Highland League opposition in the Scottish this season.
surely not!
Despite no Highland team going up yet (certainly dubiously in Brora’s case), it’s obvious that the HL is a higher standard than the LL. The Lowland League still needs to develop and build as a league.Looking at the last two play offs I’d suggest that both of the LL management teams made horrific selection errors in their choices of starting 11s v cove. Anyone in the know in LL circles would have been questioning the teams for Spartans and EK when they saw them. No surprise that they both got dominated.

The Lowland League still needs to develop and build as a league. That’s not obvious at all. The bottom half of the highland league is utter dross and the lack of relegation means it will stay that way.All today’s result proves is that cove are better than EK, nothing about the relative strengths of the leagues.

West super league better than HL? Cove played two v Talbot and lost both. Styles can also make differences in games. Would cove have won the LL playing against a lot more teams who are competitive rather than having players able to cruise through games? Would EK be the LL team that would have coped better with the demands of the HL? Or would BSC or Kelty or Spartans be better equipped?

Matches between LL & HL clubs, Scottish Cup 2018-19: R1 Gala FR 6-0 Lossiemouth Edusport 3-1 Buckie Civil Service Strollers 2-1 Forres (replay after 2-2 draw) Huntly 1-4 East Stirling Stirling Uni 2-1 Keith R2 Edusport 1-2 Fraserburgh Deveronvale 1-2 Stirling Uni So 6 wins for LL, 1 for HL, 1 draw.
HibeeJibee
In playoffs LL has 2 wins over HL (Edinburgh City 4-1 Cove / EK 4-3 Buckie)... HL has 2 wins over LL (Cove 5-2 Spartans / Cove 5-1 EK)... and 1 draw (Edinburgh City 2-2 Brora - Brora on penalties). LL has beaten SPFL2 in 1 of 2 attempts (Edinburgh City 2-1 East Stirlingshire)... HL has failed to beat SPFL2 in both attempts. We'll see if that alters in a fortnight . Looking at individual games and adding in Scottish Cup we find LL clubs have 25 wins over HL... HL have 27 wins over LL... with 12 draws. Albeit in the initial years not all LL clubs could enter. In terms of reaching Scottish Cup R5 we find 2x HL clubs have (Brora, Cove) and similarly 2x LL clubs (EK, Spartans)... HL has better R4 record... LL has better R3 record. Doesn't suggest a significant quality gap. It suggests it's pretty close, though trajectory is with LL e.g. there was a near-rout in this season's Scottish Cup with 12x LL but just 6x HL making R2, causing significant comment in the autumn. Indeed only 4 HL clubs progressed from R1 to R2... joining 2 byes... and 3 of those won all-HL clashes: only victory over another league's club was Deveronvale beating Bonnyrigg of EOSL. peternapper
Think the problem East Kilbride may have is their fans would not stand up to the rigours of travelling in the SPFl, on my way back up the road today their supporters bus had pulled into the north end of the Kingsway in Dundee to let everyone off for a smoke, how would they survive a trip to Elgin or the likes. Noticed the team bus coming down the road not far behind but not sure if they had a smoke break as well or not

Team bus had made a pit stop at the Forfar McDonald's on the way back down the road for entire the squad to go in and get themselves a pile of Big Macs. Little wonder they got pumped if that's their athletes diet.

Anyway its not good planning breaking down where you were, remember years ago going back up the road after a Peterhead game & we stopped as usual at that time for a pint & chips in Laurencekirk after the hour the bus would not start even after everyone pushing it down the street so it was back to the pub to fill in time until another arrived about 2hrs later
