You can perfectly well have never lived in a place and yet still identify as being from that place, e.g. children born to migrant parents. You can also identity most strongly with where you were born rather than where you live. Equally, you can also be a fanny on the internet telling a 16 year old what nationality he is. Yes you can, if you could read you'll notice not once have I said he is Scottish alone, and only.Scottish, you can be Scottish -Ivorian or an Ivorian scot or any combination of things.
