I read through the survey - the questions were VERY loaded.

It's a difficult one, and I can see both sides of the argument - it comes down to our wishes to be as equitable to the trans population as we can versus the possibility that they might retain advantages that will be perceived as unfair.

Prior to full transition, trans women will have undoubted physical advantages over the competition and even after the process is complete might retain those to a degree through physiological differences that remain regardless.

Maybe those residual effects are what should be studied rather than approaching the issue from a social sciences perspective. If it can be shown that they affect performance little or indeed not at all, the question would be resolved.
