ThemightyHERTHA
Two ayrshire teams in the scottish Cup final so let's take it to Lanarkshire on a carpet? It's not quite right for me and let's discuss.
bc57
Think the carpet is the biggest talking point. Very poor decision IMO.

Amateur cup final gets played there to better to play to a full stadium than a quarter filled stadium for the atmosphere granted Somerset would been better travelling wise
GNU_Linux
Hamilton & Falkirk were the only options on table. Falkirk would've been used if Lochee had made the final. Somerset was out of question due the club doing work as was the case with Firhill. Clyde were also approached but like Killie they are relaying their turf. Don't know why you felt you had to start another thread when it has already been done to death on the cup final thread. There's no big conspiracy or anything, quite simply the date has dictated that there is nothing else available. Not saying that makes it right, but that is the fact of the matter. Talbot 1978
Listen to the other guy about the geography he is bang on I'll bow to your better knowledge but never heard anyone refer to the area as South Ayrshire.
Kennie
It probably goes back to the days when there was 2 separate Ayrshire divisions. North Ayrshire League and South Ayrshire League.
Redbrae
Would agree with Kennie. Been only once at Hamilton: the areas which have stands are not too bad and would keep the fans segregated. The ‘marquee’ which holds around 450 spectators will easily hold all the Largs fans ! Or much preferred... as a wedding reception venue! Or you could have both on the same day for any Talbot or Theesil fans that want to get hitched. And watch the game live! What a lovely surprise for the new wife?
