Cardinal Richelieu
This might possibly be the first survey ever posted on P+B by someone who actually contributes to P+B. So I graced it with my response, although it might as well have been in fucking Swahili for the amount I understood of it.

To which the answer is yes and partly why the government gave the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre £11m the other month. http://www.cs-ic.org/news/2019/february/28th-february/csic-receives-almost-11m-of-funding-to-support-innovation-revolution-in-scottish-construction-sector/?mc_cid=e89c394c03&mc_eid=a9be46cb8d The equipment in the background is about half a million quids worth of automated Weinmann line , combined framing station & bridge together with butterfly tables for closed panels. Closed panels are the way forward for large scale offsite construction because not only do they mean they're put up a lot quicker on site, they're easier to insulate effectively and there is almost zero waste at the site - no more piles of insulation, plywood and CTS offcuts going to landfill so helping meet environmental targets too. Robertsons, CCG, Scotframe and Tod Timber are all either 100% closed panel or moving towards this. The question really is, will the public accept timber frame instead of brick and in Scotland's case it's undoubtedly that they will. Scotland has led timber frame construction for years and England is only now starting to catch up, partly due to rising brick and concrete costs. There isn't enough capacity in Scotland at the moment for what most consider "modular" though. The big guys want to build hundreds of kits to one basic plan which has left the door open for modular companies such as Carbon Dynamic to make niche, bespoke products.
