Donathan
It'll just be a straight draw, equal 25% chance of Bulgaria, Israel, Hungary or Romania. Would prefer one of the first two, but more than anything home advantage in the final is key.

tarapoa
Therefore we could have the scenario where that Forrest hat trick against Israel last year earned us the right to play-off against......Israel
Smokerson
So it definitely can’t be Romania?

There are four host nations in the play-offs - Romania, Ireland, Hungary and Scotland - and they all need to go into Leagues A-C somewhere.
Busta Nut
I am looking at this thinking if I was one of these nations I'd rather take my chances in the League A playoff as Serbia and Norway will be no mean feat.

Yes, it's now possible that we (or some other host nation) could end up qualifying but not playing at home.
Donathan
Ireland have to be in league B. There's a rule that if 4 or more teams from a league are in the playoffs, then a path with that league alone must be formed. This rule outranks the principle that host nations will be kept apart as far as possible, this means that path B can only be the following: BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA, SLOVAKIA, REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, NORTHERN IRELAND. Similarly the four league D teams will be: GEORGIA, NORTH MACEDONIA, KOSOVO, BELARUS. Iceland are the only league A team in the playoffs, and seven league C teams will be. Scotland, Norway and Serbia are group winners therefore cannot play Iceland at any point in the playoffs. Romania and Hungary are both hosts among the 4 countries of which 3 will be bumped to join Iceland in path A. This means either path A or path C will have two hosts and the other will have one. There's nothing to be gained by keeping us apart from Romania and Hungary, because at least one of the three cannot qualify under the rules. If anything they might be more inclined to put one of them in path C to hypothetically increase the chance of a host winning it (have to assume Iceland will stroll through path A)

Spring Onion
Quick question, how are we in a draw with a few other teams for our semi, yet Norway and Serbia already know they are playing each other?

Us, Norway and Serbia all won our League C groups. We were due to play Finland, who won the other group, but they have already qualified.
