Next Scotland Manager

Yes. Rule seems to be they cant play for their club for five days after an International window.
This International window runs until the 27th. I might be wrong but I think that means, if invoked, the likes of Robertson, Tierney and Fraser, wouldn't be able to play for their clubs until after the 1st March.
Tierney would miss the Old Firm match, Robertson would miss their match by Tottenham, and Fraser would miss a match away to Leicester.
I'd be all for doing that, btw.

Unless I’ve missed something, Fraser and Robertson at least should be available for San Marino. Not sure on Tierney’s availability.

Step off the old firm roundabout, offer it to Tedesco- he is out of a job and relatively young, like the Spanish Inquisition no one would expect it emoji6.png

The one that used to the tiles? It's out the box, but worth a try, unless he's found another job.

Jason Kerr got a lot of praise for his performances in Toulon. Gemmill leaves him for next squads as he's too old and replaces him with an even older player. The guys a c**t. He'll go far in the SFA set up.

There's no way that Preston have a lower budget than yo-yo League One dross like Rotherham. Fake news.
Why would Steve Clarke want to join an absolute shambles of an international setup now, when he's currently well-placed to secure a decent job when he decides to return to his family south of the border? Other than the benefit of being able to travel down there practically year round there's nothing to be gained from his point of view.
Scotland will be rummaging around the disregarded skip of football management for their next pick, there is neither the budget nor the credible pitch to attract a manager currently in the game at a decent level.

He’d be able to live south of the border as Scotland manager. The job pays a lot of money for effectively working part time.

Might well appeal to him.

Who would take the Scotland job in all fairness? We're utter dug shite.

Why wouldn't you want it?    Absolutely great chance of qualifying for the Euros for the first time in 22 years!

We have a fairly talented group of players.

This is actually a good point.

A new manager can easily blame the result the other night should we fail to qualify from the group, and should they do a decent job and win all games against the teams ranked below us and give a good showing against Russia and Belgium, then they'd be able to go in to the playoffs with confidence and the fans right behind them. Win the playoffs and they'll be an absolute hero.

Easy sell.

Potentially Group games in 2020 at Hampden and the chance ( with the increased participation ) of being the first Scotland manager to qualify for the knockout stages.

This Scotland squad will never compete regularly with Brazil, France, Spain, England, Argentina etc, as they've a far higher level of player.   Similarly we won't ever compare with San Marino, Gibraltar etc because our player level is far higher.

Pick the right manager and Scotland could make the world's top 15/20.

GK - Bain   Transfer value  £4 million
RB Tierney   £27 million
CB McKenna  £12 million
CB Bates £6 million
LB Robertson £40 million

DM  McTominay £15 million
DM  MacGregor £15 million

LW Fraser £20 million
RW Forrest £14 million
CM Armstrong £ 12 million

CF Burke/ Griffiths / Fletcher £10 million

The current crop are actually quite decent.   Not the best side I've seen but perhaps, collectively the best since the 1990s.

The problem is:  Alex McLeish
