They can at least barter UEFA to ensure that all games kick off at European friendly time. Get the Kazakhs telt that if they want to play with the Europeans they'll need to have their home games kicking off in the wee hours local time.

so the local people attending the game should get fucked about so some folk can watch it on tv ?aye, sure we'd be thrilled about that if the shoe was on the other foot-kick off the home game vs the kazakhs at 3pm so their telly viewers can enjoy an 8pm kick off,we'd be rippin'.lets face it,noone else other than us and them will care about this so its hardly as if it would have commanded a Europe wide audience;and even if it did the people actually attending should be the priority

Strachan was a wee bit more difficult because he'd regularly name pretty big squads, so it was hard to differentiate between who'd dropped out and who just wasn't selected.

Anyway, here are the dropouts from his final six squads:

  • Slovakia and Slovenia: 4
  • Lithuania and Malta: 4
  • England: 1
  • Canada and Slovenia: 4
  • England: 0
  • Lithuania and Slovakia: 1

It's worth noting that there was only one friendly in this period, which was also the first game of the break. The fact that a couple of the squads were only for one game also played part in fewer call-offs. I couldn't find anyone who pulled out of more than one of these six.

Distance from home looking to be a major factor there it seems.  1 call off for games close against England, but 4/8 for games in central/eastern Europe.  Pretty telling.  Just seems strange how players seem to get injured more when they need to fly 3/4 hours to get to a game.

Dodgy plane seats?

Jon McLaughlin was the best keeper in Scotland last year and plays regularly for Sunderland, why would Bain start over him?

Because Bain is quite obviously the better goalkeeper.

Any Sunderland fan would tell you that without Jon McLaughlin this season, they would be struggling to make the Playoffs, he has been absolutely outstanding. In comparison, Bain is tested relatively infrequently in goals for Celtic. As has been mentioned already. McLaughlin was comfortably the best goalkeeper in the Premiership before he moved in the summer, so it's not an unreasonable question to ask why Bain should be the automatic number one.

Who gives a f**k about Kazakhstan fans? If they want to play on their own time then they can play in the AFC, but if they want to face the big boys the game must kick off at Europe O'Clock

Cheers. I thought the BBC used to show away qualifiers.

Away qualifiers used to be sold on a game-by-game basis, or at best 2/3 packaged together (i.e. smaller nations selling their overseas rights to a third-party who then sold them on as packages).

It's now a centralised deal like the Champions League, with all rights sold by UEFA. Sky have all the matches for every nation, except England (ITV).

At least this time round there's same-day highlights on the BBC. For Euro 2016 we had to wait 2 days before ITV could be bothered showing our highlights; for WC2018 we only got same-day highlights because we were in the same group as England.

Will be in Glasgow city centre for a gig later, any decent recommendations on bars to watch the game in? Someone at work had mentioned Malone’s on Sauchiehall Lane, any cop?

I usually go to the Ark or O'Neills in the City Centre, O'Neills if your gig is at the Barras, but I only moved to Glasgow 6 months ago so if anyone else gives you a recommendation, take their advice over mines!

Could Matt Targett  opt to play for Scotland again? He switched from Scotland U19s to England U19s a few years ago. He should be eligible to play for Scotland at senior level.

He could opt to play for us again as he has not been capped at full international level. Not sure if it will happen though, but he's playing as regular for Southampton ax Armstrong has, I would guess.

Easy, because Scott Bain is the better keeper now. If your argument is correct, why was Craig Gordon being picked over him last season then?

So before boarding the plane, McLeish knew that our first choice left back wasn’t making it and that our second choice needed to be assessed before the game. Yet he didn’t think to call up Barry Douglas.

Ridiculous.

To be fair Douglas has only really made a handful of Sub appearances since the start of 2019 but you're spot on with the point that there should have been some cover put in place.

McBurnie on the plastic bog seats too - recipe for disaster

Swansea wont allow him to use plastic toilets due to the injury risk. He can only shit on grass like a dog.

1-0 Scotland, McBurnie with his first goal for us.

This would pretty much be my team except maybe Russell for Burke, simply because we can’t afford Burke to lose the ball so much against the mighty Kazakhstan.

0-1, Forrest in the 90th minute with a shindig from a Bates toepunt.

Can you please stop the { Player A }  must be better than { Player B}  because of their transfer values or because they play in England.

All good teams need balance.

Why is it so many Scotland fans have such a prejudice against Scots playing in England?

Joe Bryan is an actual left back with hundreds of games of experience and is playing regularly in the Premiership.

He is undoubtedly a better option at left back than an Aberdeen midfielder.

As you say, the team needs balance. An actual left back at left back would be more balanced than a midfielder at left back.

The rest of your post of prejudiced irrelevance.
