wintonfan Posted March 14, 2019 Share Posted March 14, 2019 you cant control the scottish weather matey, agree position the stand with the back to the prevailing wind, i remember posting a thread on here about doing diy conversions of 40 ft containers having seen them at lochgelly raceway, basically as a diy solution it would be more cost effective, a used container is about £1500 plus transport, any blacksmith could fabricate 3 step risers from steel box section with steel plating, you might even get away with timber if you treat it with fireproofing paint and ensure no gaps in the boards and strictly no smoking. perhaps junior clubs who are planning such stands could work together and pool ideas and resources to make a cheaper option, if you could get away with using timber then a budget of 5k completed must be achievable Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Make it look good, with tip up seats, maybe even a disabled cut out to help clubs who are going down the licence route, and you might be onto a good value winner. Once the 1st set is done make up jigs to make standard parts... Would be a good project for these guys and cant see it being anymore than 5k-10k.
