The hour-long news package was actually  quite good last night. There is some room for improvement - the title sequence is toe-curlingly awful and they constantly remind you of the time and main stories as if you're in a dementia ward - but the extended time allowed for a more relaxed pace of analysis and discussion in the studio than the quick-fire, soundbite drivel that a 30 minute broadcast requires. You'd expect that they've been holding back on the drugs investigation (which was on BBC One just before) and the interview with the Icelandic PM for some time though: the acid test will be producing something new of interest five nights a week.

Having the daughter of the magnificent,  shithousing ex-Morton tyrant Davie Irons doing the sport section was an unexpected bonus as well.

Wasn't too impressed with the Nine last night but was decent tonight and Real Kashmir was superb.
Recorded Nae Pasaran and this The Grey Area on just now.
Have to say pleasantly surprised so far
Nae pasaran is a fantastic wee documentary. Don't forget about it.
