Mathematical Certainty for 2019-20

On the present table - Preston and possibly Leith will be the only original EoS teams making the top flight and on recent history LTHV the biggest loser.  Crossgates/Dunbar are probably the surprise packages from the ex Juniors and Sauchie the biggest losers from the old East of Scotland Juniors.

So tough on LTHV. If they'd been able to get a licence they'd have gone up to the LL a couple of years ago. Last season they only needed a draw in their final match to go up, but lost to Kelty. And now they're looking at tier 7 for next season. They just missed the boat.

While there's still a game to be played today it won't have an effect on the standings. Three teams have now been added to the EoS Premier as Bo'ness United, Dunbar United and Dundonald Bluebell secure their spots for next season.

EDIT: Scratch that i'm taking Dunbar off the board as while they are guaranteed "17th" in the EoS. It's making the assumption that spot will be required.

EoS Premier Division:

  1. Bo'ness United
  2. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
  3. Broxburn Athletic
  4. Camelon Juniors
  5. Dundonald Bluebell
  6. Hill of Beath Hawthorn
  7. Jeanfield Swifts
  8. Linlithgow Rose
  9. Musselburgh Athletic
  10. Newtongrange Star
  11. Penicuik Athletic

EoS First Divison(s) or Conferences:

  1. Arniston Rangers
  2. Burntisland Shipyard
  3. Craigroyston
  4. Dunipace
  5. Edinburgh United
  6. Eyemouth United
  7. Hawick Royal Albert
  8. Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts
  9. Oakley United
  10. Ormiston
  11. Tweedmouth Rangers
  12. Tynecastle
  13. University of Stirling EoS

If by ‘just missed the boat’ you mean ‘spent too many seasons spending cash on players and not on the infrastructure and ground’ then you’re spot on.

How much did they spend on players?

Another confirmation for the EoS First Division. Having lots of games in hand gave Peebles a very, very faint chance to reach 6th in their Conference, but Nitten put an end to that pipedream this afternoon.

EoS Premier Division:

  1. Bo'ness United
  2. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
  3. Broxburn Athletic
  4. Camelon Juniors
  5. Dundonald Bluebell
  6. Hill of Beath Hawthorn
  7. Jeanfield Swifts
  8. Linlithgow Rose

  10. Ormiston
  11. Peebles Rovers
  12. Tweedmouth Rangers
  13. Tynecastle
  14. University of Stirling EoS

Enough to have me at they didn’t have any to spend on the ground until the horse had bolted. If they’d juggled the numbers a bit better then they could have won promotion to the LL a few years ago-although obviously they’re squad may not have been good enough to win the league if the money had gone elsewhere

A lot of their players would have come through the ranks you would imagine so maybe not that much.

In the last update for average attendances at the start of March, LTHV had an average attendance of 50. They only became a SFA member last summer so it's not like they were awash with SFA funding. And you don't hear them having a sugar daddy bankrolling the club.

I don't think they had a ton of money for players or ground improvements.

Two thirds of the league are now confirmed with Easthouses in the EoS First Division. Dunbar just need Coldstream to drop points on Wednesday against Penicuik for their spot in the EoS Premier to be wrapped up.

EoS Premier Division:

  1. Bo'ness United
  2. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
  3. Broxburn Athletic
  4. Camelon Juniors
  5. Dundonald Bluebell
  6. Hill of Beath Hawthorn
  7. Jeanfield Swifts
  8. Linlithgow Rose
  9. Musselburgh Athletic
  10. Newtongrange Star
  11. Penicuik Athletic

EoS First Divison(s) or Conferences:

  1. Arniston Rangers
  2. Burntisland Shipyard
  3. Craigroyston
  4. Dunipace
  5. Easthouses Lily Miners Welfare
  6. Edinburgh United
  7. Eyemouth United
  8. Hawick Royal Albert
  9. Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts
  10. Oakley United
  11. Ormiston
  12. Peebles Rovers
  13. Tweedmouth Rangers
  14. Tynecastle
  15. University of Stirling EoS

EoS Premier Division 2019/20 with current positions 16 from:

  1. Bo'ness United
  2. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
  3. Broxburn Athletic
  4. Camelon Juniors
  5. Dundonald Bluebell
  6. Hill of Beath Hawthorn
  7. Jeanfield Swifts
  8. Linlithgow Rose
  9. Musselburgh Athletic
  10. Newtongrange Star
  11. Penicuik Athletic
  12. Dunbar United
  13. Tranent Juniors
  14. Preston Athletic or St. Andrews or Blackburn or Heriot-Watt (one of these will compete in the EOS Premier)
  15. Crossgates Primrose or
  16. Sauchie Juniors or LTHV or Haddington or Dalkeith (two out of five will compete in the EOS Premier)
  17. Leith Athletic or Coldstream (one of these will compete in the EOS Premier unless Cove gets promoted, Coldstream needs a great finish)
  18. Whitehill Welfare

If the EOS champion get their license, they get promoted. It is then up to the SLFL to decide on whether or not to give the final place back to WW. If that doesn't happen, the most likely candidates to replace them are from the EOS.

If Cove gets promoted, place 15 in the SLFL will also go down, as Berwick/Albion Rovers enter the SLFL, and East Kilbride stays put. Dalbeattie will almost certainly finish second bottom. If that happens, both WW and Dalbeattie will have to apply for the final spot. If Dalbeattie wins reelection. WW will fill a place in the EOS Premier, without two going up. Leith (or Coldstream) then loses their place in the EOS Premier. If Dalbeattie goes down to the SOS, instead of WW or an EOS team, Leith (or Coldstream) gets to play in the EOS Premier.

There is no likely scenario where 6th in C gets to play in the EOS Premier.

More than any other team in that league, when they perhaps would have been wiser to invest some of it on the ground.

It's still not an answer to "how much did they spend on players?" I hear this kind of talk a lot but I never hear any numbers attached to it.

Probably mentioned before but if any of the conference winners are not in a position to gain entry to the lowland league they should really stand aside. Be happy with winning your conference but dont risk holding back pyramid progression. Shame eos did not stipulate this. Apologies if no likely team can end up being champion.

Unless yer on a clubs committee yer never gonnae know any figures. The fact that LTHV romped the old EOSFL for a few years probably backed up SN  s post. That wouldn't have been on youth players alone.
