To be clear, you don't hold the opinion of the doctors that players with a history of injury shouldn't play on plastic pitches, but you're happy to get it right up anyone who doesn't agree with the doctors opinion, by sharing the doctors opinion continuously?

I'm happy to get it up the folk who jumped on me the moment I made a suggestion, when that suggestion is proved correct, yes.

Who said Flecther hadn't been told by his doctor not to play?

I can't see anyone saying that. I can see plenty of people saying the doctors advice is shite and isn't backed up by evidence, but I don't see anyone doubting that Fletchers doctor actually told him not to play.

Clearly the science evidence isn’t at all conclusive that knee injuries are more likely on Astro Pitches, however, it is a theory that a lot of people (clearly some specialists too) share and I’m sure Fletcher is gutted that he isn’t playing.

The key point underlying this argument is not whether artificial pitches can cause/aggravate injuries, nor is it that doctors may advise against playing on them, it is that players are CHOOSING not to play for Scotland.

Finn Russell played rugby against England with a fractured cheek. Do you not think doctor's would advise against that? Or that his club wouldn't have preferred he missed the game for fear of making the injury worse?

If a player is fit enough to play on grass then they are fit enough to play on an artificial surface, and it is only their choice that dictates whether they will or not. Just as Steven MacLean now chooses to play on them.

Unfortunately, Alex McLeish is just another in a line of Scotland managers who let players off too easily with withdrawals for inadequate reasons.

With the rate players are dropping out, should I take my football boots with me to San Marino just in case? I've played as a fairly decent left-back in Dutch non-league (and I'm eligible for Scotland as I'm dual-national).

Get the feeling he's getting phased out a little, what with them signing a few in January to bolster the promotion push and him signing a pre contract with Getafe.

I think this is exactly what is happening, they're simply moving on without him, he's not playing there next season, so they're trying something else, sure there'll be posts on the Harper thread saying it's because he's pish, working in BK etc!!!

The one position we don't need fella, now if you'd said right-back, you'd probably be in the Team hotel right now and your flights would have been paid for!!!

I have played right back a few times when our right back was injured. I might as well take my football boots with me to San Marino as I can't really do any worse than the current team are doing anyway.

I might not be the most talented football player, at least I'd put some effort in...
